I noticed quite a few of these crankshafts on ebay as of late.

eBay Motors: New Eclipse Talon Laser 2.0L Crankshaft 93-99 7 bolt (item 350068765423 end time Jun-15-08 19:41:47 PDT)

anyone know who may be making them? It says JE Performance, I Would guess these are NOT the same guys who make JE Pistons?

Im thinking about buying one to see what they are like.

Hell even the topline crank's are more than these cranks.

Anyone tried one of these yet? The guy has great feedback and they look like decent cranks from the pictures.

I'm just curious, I'm sure its crap but you never know i guess.

The people who have bought one from the seller seem to be pretty happy with the quality (i emailed them) from what i can tell.

I'm just looking at my options, My car's been sitting in storage for the past year waiting for a full rebuild. Im going with the eagle crank but if this peice turns out to be an OEM quality crank id probably go for this one.

But then again, You get what you pay for in most case's

Well that seems incredibly cheap for a new crankshaft but who knows unless someone on here actually had used one we will never know. The picture looks good but whos to say that its not cut and pasted from somewhere else. Iffy on that one.

I'd avoid that crank for anything other than a NT application. For that price I can pretty much guarantee that it is not nitrided and probably not hardened at all. Just a cheap cast crank.

part of the problem with the 7 bolt and crankwalk is the crankshaft itself. In most cases the thrust bearings wear into the crank. A properly designed crank that should never happen, so part of the problem is the thrust surfaces/nitride depth etc. These cranks that you are looking at are guaranteed to be re-ground core's...long story short just plain garbage.

If you want to rebuild a 7 bolt the right way and limit(possibly remove) the chance of crankwalk then spend the dough and buy a 700 dollar eagle crank.

Its what I did when my crank was trashed. Think of it as a future investment.:)
