i searched and cant find the right answer.. i want to replace my pistons with new ones because i am doing a rebuild and i cant figure out how to get my old pistons off my old rods so i can replace them with new pistons .... please someone let me no ... do i have to get them pressed out or what ????

thanks

I went to the shop today and they machinest said if the pistons break he isnt buying me new ones!! He said they break sometimes when they take them apart :barf:

AND I have to wait a week for them to modify them to fit my 2g pistons

Find a shop that knows what they're doing. Gudgeon pin pressing should be a routine job, and a competent shop will have enough elan to never have to mention breaking a piston.

There are no other shops, nobody even hot tanks anymore, stupid epa!

Now they want 90 bucks to cook the greese off and then it will need to be bored because the holes get goofed up from the heat, So I just car wash and gasolined it.

OMG FedEX is here! :sneaky:

YOU don't... a competent, experienced engine machine shop does.

You can't just press the pin out and the new one in or you'll gall up the piston and rod and it'll be junk. The rod end has to be heated to temp and then the pin pressed out quickly before it cools, and then the reverse to install them. You also need a jig set up for your application so you press the pin in the right distance.

It's not something to mess around with yourself.
