Hey guys! Got a quick question for anyone who may be able to help. My oil pump sprocket jumps off of its timing mark after I start the car. I have retimed the engine many times, and after I start the car and then shut it off, I check the time and every sprocket is cool except for the oil pump sprocket which is usually more than just a few teeth off. This problem has given me fits for a month now. anyhow, if anyone is familiar with this problem I would sure appreciate the input. Thanks in advance!! Dave

Its spinning faster the the crank because its smaller. If you were to keep spinning the crank and line it up then the oil pump would eventually line up too. Also to ad to that the only reason you have to line that mark up is to get the balance shady in the correct position.

Yes, I do know that the oil pump sprocket spins at a faster rate than the crank does. I continue to rotate the crank and the oil pump sprocket never lines up again!!! It's the oddest thing. I do still have my balance shafts. The performance of the car has decreased significantly and if you leave the car running a lot of heat generates by the pedals. Enough heat to make your feet uncomfortable. Hopefully these new clues will help with a possible diagnosis.

How many times are you rotating the motor?

Well if this IS the case then the only thing that will affect is the balance shaft will be out, thus causing some engine vibrations. Does the engine shake more then before??
The oil pump does NOT have to be in time, so this won't affect the way the motor runs or cause any more heat.
Not to sure what else to say.
