Hey everyone, I have another question that the dsm gurus of this site need help me with. I'm in the process of having a used, but good condition short block installed after my old one spun a rod bearing. I already gave my mechanic the wiring diagram of the CAS for 6 bolt swaps. I just need to know if there is anything else I should have in mind when putting the 6 bolt back into my 2g. Thanx for any replies, I greatly appreciate the help. :dsm:

I'd recomend getting something to help rid of the random misfire code that 2g's have when a 6 bolt it swapped. Wether it be a custom chip that clears/ deletes the code, or DSMLink, etc. You can also use a CAS off a 93-94, the black top CAS. They have a hall effect type sensor that is more accurate and can help rid of the code.

Yeah, DSMlink is one my list but I probably wont have it for a while. I was thinking of just picking up a logger and clearing the random misfire everytime I get in the car. I heard of someone doing that, and it would clear it for a couple hundred miles until it came back.
Other than that, what is neccessary when putting a 6 bolt back into a 2g, Other than CAS wiring?

I'm sorry, I can't answer that. I've never partaken in a 6 bolt 2g swap, nor have I ever owned a 2g, nor really want too LOL. The most 7 to 6 bolt swap I've done is a 93 7 bolt to a 6 bolt, but that is all plug and play.

PM my buddy Matt, blackgsx2g, he has done the swap.

Pfft, couple hundred miles. Not for my 6bolt swap. It lasts maybe a trip to taco bell and back. ~5 miles. DSMLink is the way to go. You'll love v3! ;)

That sux, guess I'll be saving up for DSMlink ASAP.

DSMlink is the way to go for that. My random CEL would come in everytime I restarted the engine but I have noticed that the type of CAS does help. I would steer you away from the "potentiometer mod" as it doesn't seem to work that well. Also, the timing mark on the crank sprocket is different. For a 2g it lines up around 11 o'clock whereas a 6-bolt lines up around 1 o'clock. If your mechanic is worth his salt he should catch the fact that it's not at TDC anyway. Also, pull out the balance shafts while the motor is out. Makes it that much easier to time the belt and oil pressure goes up.

Thanx for the help. I had a BSE kit from slowboy put in so that is taken care of. As for the timing, I wasnt aware of that so I'll be sure to make sure it is taken into consideration.
