Car started smoking on July 8. From what i can tell, it only does it at an idle and when i take off from a stop. Definately oil burning from the smell. No coolant loss. My friend behing me said there is a big puff of white smoke just as i started to accelerate...but not under boost.

This is still the stock motor with 161K on it. I plan on boring 20 over and getting some forged pistons if the budget allows. If not, probably some stock type pistons. If i do go the stock piston route, what rings should i get....oem, hastings, topline?

I came upon these nippon racing pistons that are coated..

are they any good?

Yea sounds like the motor is tired and needs a rebuild. I would go with internals that are proven to work well in our motors. Ross or wiesco pistons are the way to go.

SBR sells them and says there are the same pistons as oem just without the markup
