Alright guys, i am a big 1g guy and i now have my first 2g. I am doing a 6 bolt swap and i am blocking off the egr. Now i know that the 1g cars with the obd1 computer systems didn't throw any codes after taking all the emission controls off. Is this true for the 2g also being that it has the obd2 system . I just want to make sure before i take it all off.

I did it on a 2g without throwing a code, so it should be fine .

Heck yeah. Did you just leave the sylinoids on of did you take them off also. That is what i am worried about throwing the code.

You can do it either way. You will just need to unplug them. I beleive that with them unplugged they read as working fine. Could be wrong though. But you wont throw I code if you do it correctly. Cap everything off and you are on your way.

I'm having issues with my CEL right now after removing the EGR system. I'm waiting for a EGR block-off kit to come (don't have any tools and don't like the soda can crap). I'm getting CELs like no tomorrow. I believe disconnecting the solenoids will trigger a CEL but I may be wrong. From searching, most people belive that having the solenoids plugged in (w/no vacuum lines) will keep a CEL from triggering. I'm going to try dis-connecting them...

Smart idea, as the soda can will burn through after a while. Ask me how I know. :D

I tried this, and it only worked for a couple hundred miles. DSMLink was the final cure. It also allowed me to go to a 1G intake manifold with EGR blockoff on a ported 2G head with no ill effects.

Matt.

Damn! I just wasted money on a SAFC2. The reason why is because I may upgrade to a EVOIII 16G only, since they've been giving nice 350+whp dynos. I guess I'll just have to deal with the stupid CEL for now. I think it wasn't really that great of an idea to remove the EGR system in the first place.

unplugging the solenoids WILL throw a CEL....i just tried to unplug mine a few days ago and after a few mins. of driving the CEL came on. You can take the vac. lines off of them, but keep them plugged in.

Have you scanned the codes yet? When i first blocked off my egr i used to get a code for EGR malfunction. I erased it a few times with my logger and it hasn't came back.
