So, I am a decent welder and thought about making my own catback stainless exhaust. My only problem is that it appears that the price of stainless pipe is more expensive than just buying it off ebay. Am I looking in the wrong places? I only priced out metal online so far. Haven't called the local place.

Correct me, or point me in the right direction...

i fabb up my own catback 3 times. cost me more than $1000. at the end i was more happier with a apexi N1 cat back.. geeze... i could of saved so much money.

Why not just get normal exhaust 3" tubing, weld it all up, then paint it with black ceramic header paint. Stealthy and it wont rust. Just an idea.

How do you paint the inside? I pulled my car out of the garage yesterday, and the first time I did a pull, I left a red cloud behind me.

Next system I build for my car will be stainless for sure, maybe even some aluminum in the back.

Cheap exhaust that you buy of ebay is the crappiest stainless steal I have ever seen. Mine started rusting after 1 year and I live in the south. However the downpipe I fabbed up with SS looks the exact same as the day I put it on. Even with heat wrap on some areas. Its worth the money to build it yourself if you have the means.

There's a couple different kind of POR-15 products and they make a exhaust paint, if your willing to spend the $50-60 on it. They even say coat the inside of the exhaust!
