Hey guys! I'm interested to see some of your painting work! Anything from valve covers to whole cars! What products do you like to use? Favorite spray gun? Home made or professional booths?

painted my bay to match the lower lip of my car. 2Ga's came two-tone in the sense that theres a lower wrap around lip around the car. i painted my GST 5spoke rims that color to match, i also shaved and wire tucked the bay and then painted it also

As far as products go, I'm a fan of PPG and Dupont. I'm certified to spray both plus Sikkens and Akzel Nobel. We only spray water based at the shop now.

Favorite gun is my Sata 3000.
I have a Devilbiss gun, works great for Primers/Surfacers/Epoxies and acid etch but my Sata only sees paint and clear coat.

I work out of a dealership body shop so we have 2 down draft booths, 5 cross flows and I also spray out of a homemade booth at my buddies shop. Bake booths are the way to go. I cant wait to get my own. (In another 5 years maybe).

My best piece of equipment is my air compressor or the damn radio.

Painted my car almost exactly a year before this thread was made. A day before actually, which happens to be my birthday! All body work and primer was done in our home shop by me. Paint was called Northstar white, factory color. Paint was actually done by the painter at my dads body shop. If you want to see more pictures or more info on what I used check out my build thread Ive got it all in there! http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/dsm-build-journals/421047-crash89s-spyder-build.html

I average $500 plus masking tape, poly and sanding paper. Somewhere around there, depends on the supplier prices around you

Do you have a paint code or color?
Color and car look amazing!!

Thanks I keep getting compliments on this color and I forget the code sadly but I will find it soon.
The car was a disaster :shhh:
Some more pics.

I painted a couple valve covers with the VHT wrinkle paint. I washed them in power clean after grit blasting them. I used a heat gun to do the final stage. I then baked it in the oven. Wet sanded the lettering with 600. All 3 turned out pretty good.

I paint my car, the one in my profile pic. Wish u could find some pics of my 1g I had. I did full molded drift kit. Black metallic paint. Looked super nice. My talon was just a quick spray so it didn't rust over winter. Still trying to figure out if I wanna keep it white or change it up. My dad has been doing bodywork for 35yrs so he helped me on it.

Thanks! love the color:D
Do you have any pictures of the paint in the sun?

Thank you, it is a complete different color from the shade to the sun because of the pearl and gold flake.

Thank you kurt, theres a picture online of a red 2g with a paint color that is very very similar to yours it looks amazing. So far your car is the only one that I've seen that comes even close to it, great job on the paint too :)

It might be the same, I wouldn't doubt it because its not a custom color, it's a production dodge color. I almost couldn't decide between that red and some Ferrari color.

I can't find the picture right now, ill try later, but i remember it being pretty close and it just might be. If your talking about the ferrari color thats on most ferraris then id say you made the right choice on that color because i think the ferrari color is too light of a red and the one you have there is the right balance between a light and a dark red.

Its weird though because i can't say I've seen a dodge with that color. even when i look up the color you gave me, most of the colors are off? is it just me? ha
