anyone got any info on this? I'm doing it and was looking for some info so I'm not so in the dark. I know it's been done before.

all I know so far is it's possible, and you can use the stock 1G Turbo tranny for it. and its work.

LOL, you can't use a turbo tranny for it.

The bell housing on a DSM tranny are very different from the 6G72 tranny bellhousings.

No if they have a adapter of some kind I don't know, but I seriously doubt it.

yes they are. the FWD 3000GT N\T uses the F5m33 Transmission aka Turbo tranny.

Did not help me at all. that's the AWD TT version of the swap, I am doing the FWD, N\T swap with possibilty of single turbo conversion later on. sooo much is different as far as fabrication. especially since I am using a FWD 1G and that thread was AWD 1G.

Thanks anyways :thumb:

I'm saving up money while i look around for a good motor, probably just find a junkyard one and rebuild it.

anyways onto the swap!!

what's his face was correct, as was i. The 3000GT does use the F5m33 Transmission, but the bellhousing is indeed different, the clutch fork, and where the slave cylinder bolts on is also different.

everything else is the same, and I can interchange the bell housings between the two 6G-F5M33, and the 4G-F5M33 transmissions. so all I need to do is find a bell housing or (unless i score a whole tranny for cheap).

I'm very excited for this swap. I think the car is gonna be a blast to drive.

put together a quick list, basic power adders nothing special

Motor:
*Fully rebuilt

*ARP Head Studs.

*BC 272's (Getting a steal on some)

*Clutch Masters Lightweight Flywheel

*Custom made REAL Cold-Air intake

*Custom made Stainless Steel Exhaust, 3.0 Inch, straight piped. with Bolt in Bolt out Cat with matching mid pipe (so I'm still emissions friendly when I need to be!)

*Custom made Headers 3-1 w\ 2-1 down pipe\collector (still working design.)

*Large External Oil Cooler

*Oil Catch Can

Trans:

*Rebuilt

*ACT 2100 kit

Suspension:

* Sprint Springs

* Koni Yellow Adjustables Shocks

* SST Sway Bars w\ Endlinks

* 3000GT big brake kit (on car already) upgrading to DBA 4000series Slotted rotors, and stock rear rotors with DBA Slotted rotors.

Chassis:

* Custom Chromoly Crossmember

* Underside Custom X Frame

* Mild Roll Cage

* Strut Tower Bars

Yeah you probably won't find much info here, probably because the top 20 dsm's are faster than the fastest vr4/rt, it wouldn't be much for handling, and the 4g is just an amazing platform. On a side note though, I like the idea. :thumb: I remember seeing one on craigslist a while ago in the knoxville area with a N/A 6g72.

Why not buy an avenger or stratus coupe and swap a 6g75 in? Its more of a "swap" then a 6g in a dsm. Plus you'll have 264hp and a possible 6 speed.

If i was gonna do that i would just buy a 3000GT

but I like my talon.

and yeah there was a guy with a talon just like mine with same swap on here awhile back!

Ok it sounded like you wanted to swap to be different/sleeper. Which one of those i mentioned would be both. Plus they are a shit ton lighter and easier to swap. Thats all i was saying. Also i meant the 6g75 from the 4g eclipses, its a 3.8L and a fairly straight forward swap into 3g eclipses and stratus's.

So why not stick with the proven 4g? Use the money the swap would have cost you for a 4g build?

Or a rwd tt 6g dsm would be kind of cool

N/a 6g fwd dsm seems extremely pointless. Even with those mods you might make 250hp.

Glad you got that figured out. For those who don't know, basically on a 3/S transmission, the starter and slave cylinder are roughly in the opposite position of what you would find on a DSM transmission -- meaning the starter is where the DSM slave is and vice versa. In addition, the bellhousing makes room for the water pipe which runs in the crevice of the "V" for the two cylinder banks from the water pipe to the thermostat housing. :thumb:

If this site's quarter mile times list is decently accurate and if you aren't counting Brent Rau, the fastest 3/S is actually faster than all but the top 4 DSMs: U.S 3S Top 10 Fastest List - Dynamic Racing

Video of the 8.74 run was never taken. Here's the next couple up when Matt Monett initially broke into the 8's:
YouTube - World's Fastest Dodge Stealth 8 Second Pass

That's all the useful info I have for this thread. Good luck with your goals!

boredum? I want a new type of challenge. and I saw this on a add a year ago or so on craigslist and ever since I've been wanting to do it, I think it will make a GREAT track car, dunno about AutoX tho.

Or a rwd tt 6g dsm would be kind of cool.

That's for the starion hahaha.

bingo. I like n\a tuning, yeah it doesn't make a whole alot of power, but its fun, and the engines always handle having the absolute shit beat out of them alot better.

don't get me wrong, I love the 4G, and turbo is fun. just not what i want right now.

some people get their jolly's off from massive turbo's and loud blow off valves. I get mine off from the sound of ITB's\Velocity stacks, and high compression builds.

who knows maybe i'll get bored one day and figure up some ITB's for the 6G72, I've always played around with the idea of a High Compression, ITB, well tuned, 4G63 but theirs soo much hate (and i sorta understand why), you can't even begin to show the idea of your creation to the world with out getting frustraited. everytime you step out of line you get shot.

I love straight 6's and 6 cyl's in general. I love how they sound. otherwise it's Rotarys.

If you filtered the Evos off that list. He's only slower than 6 1g AWDs and 4 2gs. Which includes the RWD cars and the gutted 3/S is still AWD. I realize the evos have 4Gs but we were comparing a DSM to a 3/S here, so I didn't count those. Now on the other hand, he's the ONLY 3/S in the 8s.

However, I'd just leave the DSM with a 4cyl in it, unless you custom fabbed the 6g to sit transverse and had a nice little custom RWD setup to play with.

yes they are. the FWD 3000GT N\T uses the F5m33 Transmission aka Turbo tranny.

The bellhousings are different, the fwd n/tf5m33, and dsm fwd turbo f5m33 share gearsets. There also were n/t awd 3s's produced for europe, and jdm markets with the w5m33 trans, it to shares internals with the dsm trans, but different bellhousing. I currently own both 3s, and dsm cars, and built both of them from the frame up.

6g75 3.8 swapped avenger with an a543 transmission.

I like the idea of a v6 in a DSM, but not FWD. If you used a 3kgt vr4 5 speed trans, I believe the final gearing is the same as a 1g manual awd. Plus, like the fwd trans, it's the same minus the bell housing. In my opinion, all motor v6 with awd in a small 1g would be a fun all year round daily driver. Not to mention it would be very reliable.
