whats going on guys, im currently in the process of performing a 6 bolt swap into my 97 tsi awd. since i do not have an ignition timing adjustment connector, what ive read is i need a data logger or ecm link to set base timing, i am short on cash i cannot afford to buy one (unless i can pick one up for cheap around 100 bucks or so) i was wondering if there is any one in the chicago area with a data logger or ecm link that could come help me with this that would be great! or im open to any other suggestions that would make this possible i havent found any other clear answers on how to do this without these things. this is the last thing SO FAR that i need to get this baby running after i drop the engine in. i should be ready to set the timing by the weekend. (waiting on the harness from RRE).

cant you just ground out 2 pins on the obd connector or the other 16 pin connector to set timing/?

ChirTownhussla is correct. If you read in a Haynes manual, it will tell you exactly how to do it and in good detail as well.

i forgot to mention, i looked in my haynes manual and it says ignition timing is non adjustable. since the PCM uses the crank and cam sensor signals to control ignition timing ect. After i install the harness from rre wouldnt i be able to adjust the cas with a timing light then be ok?

Ignition timing is not adjustable with the stock 2g cam sensor, but it is with the 1g sensor. It's simple to adjust, just unplug your injectors and have someone crank it over and set the timing while its trying to start. Then plug the injectors back in and you're done. This is the method I have always used on my old 6-bolt swapped 2gb.
