Hey guys,

Just a little while ago, I bought a 1990 Eagle talon TSi AWD, that was used in rally. It was seriously mickey moused together, but it worked. I got it off a guy for 250 bucks. (Sweet deal for a project) With intent on racing it again, but the logbook was lost, and the rollcage (1 1/4") is too thin to register, as the CARS guidelines changed. So I am converting it into a street car (Huge project) and I have gone through a number of issues, but something that is seriously bugging me, that I cannot figure out, is it sounds like my rear differential is clunking violently every time I shift and let the clutch out. I have no interior whatsoever, so every little sound is loud as hell in the interior (I'm fixing this soon) and I was wondering what you guys think the problem may be? Right after getting it, it snapped a driveshaft at crusing speeds doing 120km/h. But everything in my differential looks fine? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

What kind of play do you have in the rearend and how is the driveshaft bushing? Is everything tight under it? I would suspect rear diff play.

I will check that out and report back ASAP. Thank you!

Could be a loose or broken bolt in the top of the rear diff. (there are two) That can allow some clunking and what-not out of the rear end. ;) Good luck! :thumb:
