Just got a 99 RS with a bone stock 420a. I'll be honest I'm new to DSM's and I know very little, but I plan to turbo it and wanted to know would a turbo even be necessary for at least 300hp? If not, what parts would I need to easily get to at least 300hp N/A? and if I do need a turbo, what would be everything I need to get to that goal?

Thanks in advance :)

Going to be hard to hit 300hp n/a. Not impossible but definitely a challenge. Your wallet will more than likely hold you back LOL. IMO if you are looking to make that kind of power, sell your car and a buy a force fed DSM. There not that expensive. I picked up my 1g gsx with 108k for $2200

Yeahh I had a feeling it'd be really expensive, but roughly how expensive ? I've got a good budget and I'd hate to get rid of the car LOL as long as everything amounts to less than $6k. And what's "Force fed" ? (new to all of this LOL, but learning fast :p )

By force fed he means a dsm with a turbo. With that budget you would be hard pressed to make that much power. For that much money you could probably find a dsm already making that much power and buy it.

Thanks, I had a feeling that's what it meant LOL. I'm not that worried about cost just wanna know what I would need. Like a partslist of things that would help me get to 300 at least. Our even anywhere close like maybe 250+ and I'll take it from there

I don't know much about the 420a so ill leave that to someone else. I know you would start with intake, headers, exhaust, cams and the list goes on and on. Do some research. It's all at your finger tips, this site is RIDICULOUSLY informative.

That sounds like a great place to start, I'll start researching right now, wish me luck! :) thank you

If you have 6k to spend i would just keep your N/A for your dd and pick up a awd 1g you can get one in pretty nice shape for 3k and all you would have to do is get a fmic fuel upgrades a wideband boost controller and something to tune and you can easily make 300hp on the stock 14b turbo

I know some 420a turbo charged people, after they invested in turbocharging it, they wished they had a 4g63T instead. Under 2k you can probably push 300 to the crank after all the maintenance if checked of course!
