Well here are some of my new toys..

It's going to be a tech piece in an up coming HCI (much like my Magnus SMIM will be in the March Issue..)

It will be interesting to see how the EMS CDI and Wideband work together. I'm really going to enjoy ditching the stock maf and going to speed density. I have an AEM trained EMS tuner in my area with an AWD dyno so it should be interesting to see how I can get my EMS to go on mycar. It seems to do everything except get me a beer from the fridge so hopefully it will be a cool piece.. Of course once it's ready to run in HCI it will be a tech piece here on DSM Tuners.

Anybody with an EMS that can offer me some "watch out for this, or don't do that" advice?
 
hopefully you know what you're getting yourself into:

EMS is a great unit for someone who:

has easy access t oa dyno, or REALLY knows how to tune WELL and fully understands the inner workings and functions of an ECU, and operation of fuel and ignition systems, and is building a RACE car.

making the car run as well as on a stock ECU using teh AEM (i'm talking about driving around, not necessarily racing) is a VERY difficult task. your ETs may benefit from the switch, but when you figure gain per dollar you'll be dissapointed.

as for the actual unit, stay away form autotune, unless they've fixed the bugs in it, and there is another bug i believe in the per cylinder timing advance function if i'm not mistaken.

This guy said the same thing until he had a proper EMS guy tune it and he said it was better than the stock comptuer..

I have tuned Stand alone of other types before (TEC2 or 3) and delt with DFI somewhat on an all motor car and work on race cars every day so thats not a problem.

I deal with electronics without much problem so hopefully this will all work, thanks for the advice :thumb:
 
Is the shop with the AWD dyno you mentioned caled neetronics?
If not would you mind informing me of the name of the shop and their contact info? The reason I ask is because I've considering the same setup, and I also live in toronto. also if you don't mind, keep me informed on your progress. Good luck!

He is the only licensed AEM tuner here. He has done a bunch of other cars for us and they turned out nicely so I'm sure this will be cake for him.
