Bought a used turbo. Now what?

I just got my 14b turbo for my turbo conversion project. This turbo has 115,000 miles on it. I'm just wondering if there's anything I should check for or if I should clean it or something?

Ack... 115k....

Most turbos lifespan is 100k -- just due to wear and tear.


Might wanna send it to a turbo shop and have them do a 'rebuild' as a percaution

Nope, just bolt it on.

Yea, I'd like to try it out first. I'm really wanting to experience the boost and I dont' think the 14b is going to be the permanent answer.

-I really don't get it, you spend all those time, $ and effort on the convertion yet the most important part has 115K miles on it.

-Check the waste gate flap area, turbo that age usually has crack or worn, leaky W/G can't build boost.

just check for shaft play.. other then bolting it up there isnt much you can do
