I much power gain from a Front mount??

Im just about ready to purchase a front mount. I have a HRC super 16g@19psi, AFC, 1g TB, all IC piping, denso fuel pump, MSD, profec-b. full exhaust, ect. Im curious how much of a power gain should I expect from a front mount IC ?????? My car feels held back, especially when its hot out.
Just so I dont get flamed ......I know I'm running high boost levels for my setup, but even with the Profec-b I cant seem to get it any lower. My EGT's are around 890C, but I still seem to be running rich though.

Well, before you get a FMIC you'll need to fix your boost problem.

What happens when you run a vac line straight to the wastegate on the turbo -- bypassing the boost controller alltogether?


As far as the fmic..... it depends on your current climate.
You could gain as little as "consistancy" in the 1/4 (pass after pass), or as much as let's say .4 ? Possibly more, depends on how well you tune your car.

FMIC's are fun -- but mine seems to be a tumbleweed magnet.
 
ok, I just went out and hooked the waistgate directly to the turbo....Its holds solid at 15psi in 2nd gear (rush hour traffic) Does any one know of anyways to get the profec-b to start at a lower boost level? I tried adjusting the dip switches on the back before with no luck. I know the boost controller works because I can raise the boost, and it worked fine with the stock turbo.

any ideas??

still at 15psi? that's still surprisingly high..... what kinda turbo do you have, internal/external wastegate?


Play with the other knobs on the profec -- when you zero out the "low" and set the profec to "low" -- what happens? What happens when you turn the low knob while in low mode?
 
I have the HRC super 16g with an internal waistgate. It has a 10cm exhaust housing. Laggy but great top end. I believe the waistgate actuator is set to 15psi from Hahn.

As far as the boost controller, I have low and high all the way down (no need for high when its already to high) and I still get 19psi. If i move the knobs up I will get more boost. Ive had it this way for over a year and havn't had any problems. The car runs great. Is 19lbs really too much for my setup?? Ive pocket logged the car and appears to have no knock. I would just like to be able to set low to like 15lbs and high to around 19lbs( sorry but im spoiled with 19 now) Why would the profec, raise my boost 4lbs?

With a front mount as my only mod I picked up 10mph and lost 8 ths in the 1/4 mile. This was with 1.9 and 2.0 60 foots. FMIC will give you big power. Just remember it was my only mod.

Wow Victory, 10mph faster trap speed!! about how much hp more is that??

Remeber the little boost solonoid restricter that you remove to raise the boost on the stock setup??? What if I put a similar restrictor in line with the Profec-b. Would that give me a lower starting point on the boost controler? Just a thought

Check out your wastegate actuator. If its adjustable, make it longer. Yours may be set to short and you can't go lower.
 
my spearco FMIC gave me .6 second in the 1/4 and consistnecy.

Fix your boost leak, don't skimp on the FMIC, or you'll do it over.
