Hello everyone, I am new to the dsm seen, In fact I just got my car about 2 weeks ago. It is a 1990 Eclipse GSX and I baught it from some kid for $400. I have the get a new clutch and right rear tail light to drive it but other than that it runs good. Well the other day I was taking off the stock air box and filter. along with the MAFS. I then tried to install an HKS intake. Unfortunatly the guy sold me the worng intake so I have to get another one. My problem is that when I had the mafs unplugged I could not rev the car past 3000 rpm's and then the car would die. Then I plugged the mafs back in and the car was doing the same thing and the mafs was on the outside of the air filter. what is going on I will go home tonight and try some other things but it did not used to do this what is going on?

Well it will definitley die with the mas unplugged. As far with it plugged back in. it should not die unless you have some vaccumm leak.

Later,

Well I am going to try it again when I get home and make sure that the connection is good, do I NEED to have the intake (air filter) on the car!

You have to have the mas connected to the intake of the car so that the air flows through it before it gets to the car. The filter is optional but i suggest you have that on too. Here an AFM would help you alot to let you know if it is working...or you can read the karmen readings off the mas.
