Hey guys, I am selling my GS-T and I have already sold my Blazer 4X4. I met a guy who is selling me a 91 AWD Talon for 1700 dollars. It has the frigin window problems though, needs rotors and pads, anyways. Motor is nice and dry and clean as hell, says he has paperwork on a motor swap-engine supposed to have only 50K+/- a few. Bone stock. Anyways, with selling my car and truck. i have a lot of money to play with and dump into the car to get it to haul ass. I was wanting to know you experienced guys opinions out there. What turbo, mani, and O2 set up should I be running to put out enough power to take an STI. I saw evil eagles vid and that was sweet. I am familiar with 2g's, not 1g's so well. pretty much the same motor, but the maf, mas and stuff like that i need to learn on. I was thinking of getting the AGP 50 trim kit. Does anyone know what this kit will produce with 93 octane on a stock fuel system and at what boost? There are two guys on my military base with STI's and they think they are so ####ing bad ass, and yeah they are... to a point, but i want to unleash the holy hell of DSM power on dat ass if you know what i mean. Also, what intercooler do you guys recommend for the set up? I was liking the slowboy front mount. Thanks in advance guys.

finally got an awd baby!!! hell yeah!!!

check it,

I could smoke a stock STI right now... here are my mods with my....

Stock Turbo
Stock Intercooler
no porting done
free mods
turbo back exhaust no cat
1 3/4 inch compressor outlet pipe
15 psi with Manual Boost Controller
Custom Intake (venting) made for 5 dollars @ home depot
I could do it on my stock rims, or my other set, (about same weight)

now with that set up I ran a 13.5 on a VERY slipping clutch

since then I spent some money on a ACT 2600
Custom Cold air box (made for free)

Now a VERY good driver with a stock STI could manage a 13.4 (most of the drivers suck and run 14's

now with a good launch.... I could easily run a 13.2 and if my cold air box is helpful enough should keep the intake temps pretty cold all the way through a run and with 15-16 pounds of boost I could hit 12's

check out my website and look at my mod's... just get the performance ones... BTW that 13.5 was with a baffled 3" muffler and non-mandrel bent exhaust.. .ive also got a straight through 3" magnaflow muffler + mandrel bent piping, which I can already tell helps out ALOT!!!

anyways make this story short, dont get a bigger turbo... cuz you will need to spend LOADS of money of a big turbo... and then they will complain that we have stock turbo and blah blah blah...

just smoke em with stock turbo... besides without proper tuning you will run slower with a bigger turbo... t-25 ain't to great, but the 14b can run 11's if properly tuned...

http://www.geocities.com/jesses_talon_tsi_awd send me a AIM message and I can talk with you about how much it will run ya.... or look at my site for exacto prices...

the 13.5 i ran was with less than 400 in mods......

I sold my GS-T today on ebay. So after I pay off two of my credit cards. I will then have 4500 dollars to drop into the motor and tranny. That is why i was asking about the bigger turbo set up. I want to really dust his ass. The guy drives around blowing his bov off on people cuz he's so cool and thinks he's so damn bad. Normally I wouldn't care, but the guy is a prick too. He needs to get smoked.

Here is what my plans are as of now, tell me what u think.

Apexi N1 turbo back

Dejon intake and k&n filter

SBR front mount int. kit.

boost controller

boost gauge

turbo timer

so far that is what i've decided on, not sure yet about the turbo, mani and o2 set up yet. gotta call AGP and ask some questions.

P.S. nice ride. I have the EVO III mani, turbo, and O2 on my GS-T. It is sweet as hell, i saw where u were wanting to put one on your car. They are nice, pulls hard. fries my tires-hence why i sold it and got an AWD now. later.

also jesse, what set up do u have for your MAS?

Confused..you sold an evo turbo ,man and o2 with your car. That is the stuff you should have put on this new car.Of course a 50trim will incinerate a stock sti..and probably pretty modded one unless the sti has also upgraded to a way bigger turbo.

Import tuner took a 1g and got it to 290whp with the 14b n1 catback and downpipe,holley/walbro fuel pump, hks fuel cut defencer, grounding kit and hks intake stuff. That is a bit more than a stock sti. They didn't use a boost controller the car hit 17psi before the fuel cut gadget and 15psi after.I can vouch for that.My car creeps /spikes that high with no boost controller hooked up with just the n1 downpipe and catback. The n1 downpipe has no cat.

I say get what I got..or rather have in the mail.A nice RS49 AGP 50trim ,nice fmic, bigger pump and injectors, and say goodbye to 95 per cent of the subarus out there. Not to mention they are ugly little four door boxes!!

Why subaru won't make an nicer two door wrx or sti like their two door imprezza coupes is beyond my imagination.I for one will enjoy taking down every subaru I can find this summer with may new snail.:D

Yeah, I had the full EVO III set up on my GS-T. I would have swapped it over, but wasn't sure the guy was going to sell me the AWD Talon. AFter I sold the GS-T, I finally made a deal with the dude with the AWD. It was too late. I was going to swap over the stuff, but i'd rather build an even better set up with more power.

What FMIC are you looking at getting? I like the SBR kit that they have on their site, it's at a good price. What manifold and O2 housing also? Are u getting the 50 trim AGP kit advertised? That is what I was lookin at getting.

I already have an AFC, so i guess i will add injectors to my list of things to buy also.

Yes ordered the RS49 a week or so ago.I was going with external gate and tubular ex but kinda cheaped out at last minute and went with internal gate and evo 02 and evo manifold. I haven't got fmic yet either.
They are pricey.I am thinking maybe just the dejon cheaper fmic ,its made from 2 -2 g ones put together and lets me hook up to stock pipes for now.It also lets me keep foglights and don't think you need to cut anything in the bumper, etc.

I am not 100% sure its enough but figure probably good enough for me.My car is street car not track car.In fact I am wondering if I should have went with the evo 16 like you had and not went up to the 50trim.

Guess find out soon.Only other prob with going to the 50 trim is need more expensive supporting mods..act 2600..the fmic..etc. adds up quick.

true dat. it can be an expensive hobby. I really don't know what else i would do with my money. I love working on cars and really enjoy everything about them, especially the pride and feeling you get when you turn a clunker into a monster that will smoke a 35k dollar cars ass. That is what i enjoy. This STI is going down! I hope i can get it on video too, like that dude evil eagle. That was pretty sweet mpg clip.

Beware the Evo III O2 housing. It is cheap, but you will end up having to modify your downpipe probably. The flange on it is at a slightly different angle and the studs are at a wider pattern. It is a lot bigger though than stock, i measured it to be 2.5" though at the widest part at the flange. I had to buy a new/bigger flange that fit the housing, a new gasket, then i had to pay a muffler shop 75 dollars to cut and re-weld my downpipe. What a hassle. i just wanted a full EVO III setup and i got it at a cost i think was a tad high. I would have rather just waited one more payday or something and saved a tad more and got the SS O2's plus they look better than cast iron. SBR makes em' now, they look pretty good too. If i were you, i would shop around and get a good O2 housing that is SS.

Hey Actually I have stock MAS... just with the lower honey comb taken out... and the silencer is out... and the screw backed out... (basically all the free mods I have done)

No Cars looks can beat the subaru.... in uglyiness....

:p subaru = :thumbdown in looks

anyways, good luck man, Bigger turbo might slow you down at first(need fuel managment for sure) but with that mani u won't have the boost creep that now shows when i got the ACT 2600 and the mandrel bent 3" exhaust :p compared to the bent press i had before

Please tell me you are not going to try to port your manifold with a dremel tool. You will get it finished in about a month. You need to get a pneumatic grinder bro. You can get a good cheap one from harbor freight tools. They also have a long necked electric one if you don't have access to a air compressor (big one)

Yeah don't use a dremel, you will be working on it forever.

for porting this stuff invest some money into a GOOD carbide bit.. I did a little work with a dremel and a few hours later and about 7 bits later I made a dent in the turbo turbine housing.

I got a good carbide cutting bit on a 2 speed rotozip.. and got the turbo ported LOTS. the o2 housing ported and the Manifold ported all on one bit..

the manifold exit into the turbo is now 2.5" and the turbine entrance matches it. and slopes down much mor smotthly than it used to..

Also ported the wastegate valley to match the o2 housing.. cut the wall back where the dumptube feeds back into the main pipe.. and ported the o2 housing out to 2.5" up past where the dump tube comes in..

I barely beat a Sti. He didn't wanna run from a stop. So he said let's go from a roll. So we went from 60-70 mph to 120? and I was a nose up but no one moved. I think the 14b did it's job. :thumb: The Sti had full exhaust and a mbc at 19 psi which he didnt tell me about til after. I was quite surprised but I forgot to change the settings on the AFC. :barf: BTW, i was on 100-110 octane mix at about 20-21 psi, but that's my pump gas so it was pump gas :p The next week, I asked if he wanted to go again from a stop or roll again cause I had my afc settings not on zeros (tuned) and he said "Does it look like I wanna get walked?" ; I just laughed and said "It's just a dsm and it's 12 years old, it's gonna fall apart" :D
