Disconnected exhaust tonight... pros and cons?

Fort Worth,
Tonight I got bored so I took my catalytic converter off my car. I left everything else the same, just now theres a gap where the cat was. It is much faster through first gear. The turbo spools very fast and it has much more top end. I love the performance gains.

However its very loud (so much that my seats vibrate). I cant stand that. I think I'm going to put the cat back on in the morning.

So my question is, do you think it could cause any problems running like this for a night or two? I can only think that maybe the O2 sensor wire might melt with all that hot gas being blown out there. I know it may throw a check engine light but I'm not worried about that because it will be back on soon. So what do you guys think? Anyone else done this?

Why don't you just go down to the local exhaust shop and have them make you a replacement piece with slip ends to replace the cat. If you want to be really picky, you can get them to put a bung in to hold your second O2 sensor.

Yeah I was originally going to do a cut out, but like I said, this is temporary so I figured I'd just try it out. I would much rather have exhaust because I hate the way this sounds. However, if a cut out is going to give these types of gains, I just might go that route.

if you just get a straight pipe made the same size as your cat (with the right flanges too) and bolt it up it will sound much more quiet and you will still have noticable gains over the stock cat....or you can just buy a cat-eliminating downpipe

Hrmph. Imagine that, a car that's loud when IT HAS NO MUFFLER.

These things are just getting too goddamned cheap.
