My car bogs when it boosts...I need a new coil pack. I dont really want a stocker, so does anyone know of a good one for a turbo 2g? Thanks
Andrew

If you ask me, you are really just wasting your money by choosing to use an aftermarket ignition system. The stock coil pack works fine, and their are tons of them in the junkyard ($10 where I'm at). Buying a really expensive ignition system isn't going to result in hp gains. So if you ask me, I'd stick with the stocker =)

The stock DSM ignition is said to be good for levels of 400hp. No need to spend money in that direction. Stay with the NGK plugs gapped at .028, and anyone's premium plug wires (hell, shop for a color you like).

Buschur offers a coil on plug ignition setup for 1G and 2G cars. if you are looking to ditch the coil and wires. The buschur setup is very well put together and works very well. the largest difference in normal driving is a much smother idle and the motor revs and makes power very clean and smooth.

The other day my wastegate hose burned off and the car spiked to over 30 psi. No blow out or miss. Others have reported being able to run high boost and N20 without any misfire or blow out. the only down side is when I had my car dynoed. it was difficult to pick up the rpm signal on the dynojet using the buschur system.

Im not looking for hp gains...Im just looking for a cheaper alternative to 120+ for a new stocker. I saw a msd from summit for like 60 so I might look into that.

That one is designed for the 420A engine, its basically the same as the stock non turbo coil, and would be a good bit more work to mount into our cars. The coil terminals are different. If you wanted to use one of these, you would want to get one off a junkyard car, so you could get the connector that plugs into the coil from the wiring harness. And the towers on the coil are different as well, so you couldn't use the 2G turbo plug wires. Plus its bigger and won't fit into the stock coil location, you would have to make a mounting bracket for it, and position it further away(another reason you'd need different plug wires). I'm not saying its a bad idea though, just pointing out its not a plug in swap.

yeah I called summit and got that same answer...as far as junkyards around here...they suck. The only turbo dsm I have found was a laser that was stripped of everything along with rusted pisptons and block. Unless someone has one for a 2g that works for above said price($10) then Im going to be visisting my work parts counter.
