Hey guys....Im totally stuck here. Been thinking for about a month now. Please help me come to a conclusion of getting a 16g or a big16g turbo!!!!!!!!! Im also taking into consideration of minimal wear to the car.
Also, what other neccessary parts do you guys recommend me getting with what ever turbo upgrade i get??? Thanks......

sorry if this post annoys some of you guys. I already did my research about both turbos but im still not convinced of which one i should get. I would just like some opinions and thoughts.:D  :p :dsm:

i say small 16g or evo 16g. The small 16g is pretty cheap, but for a little more you can get the evo 16g which is supposedly better.

I would say go for a B16G with a 10 degree clipping on the turbine wheel. Proven power and reliability. Evo III 16G's are nice, but they have the fastest spoolup, which could be a traction issue for FWDs. Since Evo III 16Gs aren't on your list either, go for the B16G, its worth the extra 50$.

If you're feeling brave or stupid ( its a fine line ) go for a 56 trim - T350 76 trim tubine PTE Garrett turbo. 680hp. Mmmmm, now I'm dreaming......;)

:dsm: :laser: :talon:

only choose the big16g if you are going over 20psi, because under that the "small" 16g is actually more efficiant, and will work better for you..

I've heard a lot better feedback with the small 16g than the big. it's definately more efficient. my roommate had a small 16g with 550's and ran a 12.6 with his 97 talon. he also had afc, and digital o2, and other goodies. he was running 21 lbs with it on race gas. I've just heard too many bad stories with the big. i know a car that could't break into the thirteens with a big.

a lot of people think bigger is better, but that's only true if you have the small stuff to support it, i.e. big enough injectors, afc, o2 guage. I would definately go with the small and 550's. you should also get a bigger fuel pump too, if you haven't already. it would also be good to do a rewire with it. Make sure your car is going to be able to push the turbo to what it can withstand before you buy the turbo. get all the small stuff taken care of and you'll be ready for it, and see improvements even before you put the bigger turbo on.

p.s. my roommate also had a front mount.

I definitely like my big16g, but the evo looks like a good choice. Without cams, my big16g was flowing 37.5 lb/min at 22psi, so I'm sure I'm pushing 40 now. I just need to get around to logging it. I know one member on the board that was pushing 44 lb/min with his evo16g, shapegsx maybe it was?

My car ended up running a 12.4@112mph with my small 16G. I raced that turbo for years. Boost would always spike to around 24psi, and then fall to 19psi by redline. It was very frustrating.

Then I bolted up my Evo III 16G. Four days later, I raced my car at the track and pulled a [email protected] with a steady 21 to 22psi of boost all the way to redline.

A month later, I pulled 118mph in the 1/4 by running 25 to 26psi. 6mph is a HUGE improvement from just bolting up a different 16G and turning up the boost.

If there is a low end difference between the Evo 16G and the small 16G, I sure can't detect it. The Evo 16G (which is LARGER, and LIGHTER than a big 16G compressor wheel) is just better.
