35mm Tial STY Wastegate

I am aware that Tial no longer makes the 35mm wastegate and now some company is selling Tial STY wastegates on Ebay for a fairly reasonable price and im interested in purchasing one.

1) I would like to know if you think it is still a good product?

2) I would like to know if I can ran 16 psi on a 8lb spring or would I have to upgrade the spring?

3) When mounting on the #1 runner does this really harm your engine due to unequal backpressure on the #1 cylinder?

I bought one to. Im plan on welding it to my #1 runner. I look around and thats what most people do who dont have aftermarket manifiolds. I was also thinking of buying a pace setter header and modifying it make it stronger. Im still undecided. Good luck

Enjoy your Taiwanese knock off. IT's not a real tial gate. STY means style so its been sent off and guys took a gate that costs $150 to make and made if from parts that cost $30.

SSAutochrome is an importer of crap from overseas and those gates are exactly that. Would you buy knock off HKS cams? No probablly not cause you dont know the performance etc and HKS is the shit so why mess with it right? Then what are you doing with that gate? Don't judge a book by it's cover, that gate isn't the same cause it looks good on the outside.

Damn, you guys were 24 hrs. too late. I already bought that POS. So i need to ditch it or should I give it a shot? Please give me some feedback. Or can I buy a replacement gate from you BEN? Thanks for the input.

Just try sending it back... and get the 38mm from somebody in the tuners sponsor list.

Your going to need to get a flange welded on anywas... so you might buy the wastgate from the people who put it on.

Buschur is 75 and forced cost 100.

i don't need to pay someone to weld on a flange. i have all the stuff i need to install it(tig welder, any thickness ss sheet metal, pipe, mandrel bends, plasma cutters, grinders, ect., ect.)

what i want to know is even though this is not the origonal real thing, will it be better than a stock internal wastegate on a 16g and releasing excess exhaust, and should i place it on my number one runner or should i grind the sh!t outa the hole where my stock flapper is and put it right off of there

The Tial 35mm is now 38mm (not that the 35mm isn't made anymore they just upgraded) which is a much better choice. You can get Tial rip off gates on ebay for cheap which is Tial's old moulding sold privately as a 35mm Tial Sty Wastegate . It's still a descent piece though.

So why is it such a Taiwanese knock of POS now. Isn't it still, "A descent piece though". Or did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed today? Im not at all trying to start an argument, I was just pointing this out to you.

I originally thought it was Tial's old gate gate, however its not. I heard somebody bought their old casting to make the gates but it's not that SSautochrome company. It's a well known turbo kit company that is going to use it.

The gates that they are selling are Taiwanese knock offs which are garbage. Take the hat off and compare it with a real Tial and you will see. I'm just telling you straight, I have a real Tial on my car and would never put one of those knock offs on my car, so why would I tell somebody else they are ok. I'm sure it will work for a while, but for something important like controlling boost and to keep your motor from blowing up I would be afraid to use a cheaply made product.

In retrospect even if it was Tials old casting it doens't matter because it's the spring and diaphram inside that make all the difference. The material the poppet valve is made of is also important. Some are 316 some Iconel, i believe the rip off one's are only 304. I don't know why the different materials but I do know higher qulaity gates are all 316 and the knock offs are 304 so there must be some reason.

Just use it for a little while until you get a deal on a real Tial then sell it back on ebay again as a Tial gate. You'll probablly get all your money back anyway so who cares.

You wanna do me a favour and take some detailed pictures of the gate for me and post them here or PM me? I'm more interested in the casting and the valve ont eh bottom, tho some pics of the hat would be cool.

I wanna see how they made the valve and the casting. Taiwanese knock offs can be good or bad, depends on how much your willing to pay. They are very skilled at making stuff, so I wanna see just how good a job they did.

That gate will cure your problems no doubt about that. My gate is 10psi and I can run 10psi with no creep at all, no problme on my turbo (50 Trim) I can also run 23psi with no creep so it really doens't matter what I set it to, it's all good.

I have the 35mm Tial STYLE wastegate. It all looks good. I didn't open the cap but i didn't care. I needed something fast and something that would work decently. I custom made an o2 housing from another ebay product (122 performance internal dumped tubular o2 housing). The gate opens at 9psi (8.75psi spring they say) and holds boost rock solid. I am running a ported 2g mani, garret t04b v-trim from bullseye, tubular o2 and that 35mm gate. Boost may be comming on slower then usual, but this might be from other problems like leaks, tunning, etc. I have had this gate for a month or so now and it has worked fine. Only thing i had to do was get some washers to seal the vacuum line. Otherwise it is working fine.
