I was doin my camshaft replacement today, from my ground down webcam street grind to my new hks 264/272 combo and i ran into a dead stop. I couldnt put the cam sensor on because they did not make threads for it. But they made the notch. Whats the deal, why couldnt they do this. Did anyone else run into this problem. Now i either drill the hole myself and thread it or change my sensor to the 95-96 type. What did u guys do? thanx Chris

You need to tap the intake cam for a 97-99 style CAS, sorry. It would be nice if HKS just did it since it doesn't mean it won't work with a 90-96 but I guess that would make it cost more to us then:p

thanx Mike, thats what im gonna do tomarrro, it seems like the most resonable thing to do. Switching to a 95-96 style seems like alot more work. Mike did u do have these cams? Did u do this yet? no one else replied so usually it means either no one cares to help or no one knows cause it hasent been done yet. thanx Chris

Yes I had them on my 2g and now my 6 bolt. Buschur tapped mine before they sent it to me so I never had to actually do it. I believe in is a M8 x 1.25 tap but I would double check that. Obviously, it is critical that it be tapped very square. If I were you, I would take it to a machine shop to have done. I'm pretty good at drilling and tapping but I personallly wouldn't fool around with the $300 cam. It will probably take them 10 minutes to do and they do it every day.

don't mean to bring this back form the dead buy you can also rewire and switch to a 1st gen cam angle sensor thats what i did because i changed to HKS cams and cam gears.the 1st gen cam sensor goes on the other side and it slips right it just take out the ruber plug and the good thing is it also doubles as a crank angle sensor
