I'm getting a die grinder and I have two weeks off from work!!:thumb: I'm gonna port my turbo and I was thinking about porting my head where it meets the exhaust manifold. I have an evo III manifold and it is about 1/8" bigger than the head opening all the way around. I was wondering if I could do this without hurting anything? I've done a little bit of research but nothing I've found says anything about just this part.

from my own searching on porting ive found that: most people can port their own exh manifolds, turbos, o2 housings, but DONT touch the head unless you know what you are doing.

If a grinder touches your head you will get the following items:

A) A mess
B) Less port velocity because you screwed it up
C) Shavings inside the motor
D) Less HP (this is guaranteed or I'll eat my hat)
E) A worthelss head because you screwd it up

and probablly other circumstances I just can't think of right now because it's 7:45am...

Just leave it alone. If you don't know how to port heads and have not done 100 of them already you will not make extra power, you will lose power and create a totally worthless head. There are things involved in head porting that have effects more people don't understand. Port size and shape, port height and radius, angle etc.. All that matters.

:thumb: From what I have read here and other post I wont touch it. I just thought I might open it up where the exhaut many meets the head but oh well. When I rebuild a 6 bolt I'll have someone else do it then. Thanks for the replyes. My mant is an evoIII already ported and the rest of my exhaut is gonna be true 3" so the only thing I know I can port is my turbo inlet and outlet. Anywhere else on the exhaust I can port even though it will be 3"?
