Boost question should it be my max at spike or max at WOT

As the topic states should my boost be set to sustain 16PSI with my stock turbo at WOT or at the spike meaning if I stab the throttle I hit 16 PSI then fall to about 14PSI should I up the boost to hold 16 PSI which would puch the spike higher.


Also what would cause a boost surge under steady throttle at about 1/2 or 3/4 throttle my boost gauge when the motor starts to take on a load hill or something it will bounce the boost gauge about a psi give or take what could cause that?

It should be set at the sustained psi. It will always spike the same no matter what psi setting you have on the boost controler.

As for the hills, it takes more power for the car to go up a hill since it's fighting gravity, so the turbo spools to add a couple more pounds of boost to handle the load. All normal man.
