Allright, I just did the EVOIII 16g swap and ported everything. Now my timing retards like a mo fo at wot. at 4K its 7 degrees and it jumps up to about 10 degrees at 5500 rpm and stays there. I have played with a/f mixture with no result and am currently at .94v-.96v. I have also built an airbox and air temp is down to 35 degrees. Base timing is 5 degrees. Could the ecu be picking up knock from something else. I don't have any boost leaks either. Any Idears fellas??

Well yes...the ecu can pickup knock from other things. However I think montana you get 93 octane correct? With 93octane and 650cc's I would try leaning it out a bit. .96 is pretty rich for those conditions in almost any situation. Try that first... lets see some logs and AFC settings as well.

My car and logger are at a friends house right now and yes we only have 91 here. I know that .96v is pretty rich but it is the best setting i have come across so far as far as timing is concerned. I have taken it from 8.4v to 1v and .94v-9.6v is about the best. would plugs have anything to do with it? I don't remember how old they are but they look good.

Don't pay attention to what the O2 volts say. They are worthless on a 2g. Richen the car up until you can get about 20 degrees timing advance on the top of 3rd gear. Then lean it out in small increments as much as you can before the timing starts to drop again. On a 2g, your O2s may end up being anywhere from .90 to 1.00v using this method. The last time I was at the dyno, my O2s on the pocketlogger read between .98-1.00 even though the wideband said 12.5!!
