i just got a stock tsi a couple of days ago and was wondering what the best way to launch and race it is...

also... is a gst or tsi faster than the gsx or tsi awd from a roll?

Same driver, same conditions, the AWD can launch harder because of the increased traction, which allows for more revs on launch. If I were you, I would spend an hour or two acquanting myself with the traction of the car on a deserted back road. Your tires are the biggest component of traction on yer ride, so figure out what rev's/clutch drop works best on yer setup. Let us know what works for you.:thumb:

the way i launched my car when i raced my car in englishtown was rev to 3250-3500RPM slip the clutch out and went about 3/4 throttle in first, then WOT throttle in 2-3 with that i ran a 15.3 in my stock GS-T not bad for a 3053lbs car:thumb:

On my TSI with the stock clutch 4,500 rpm was about it's sweet spot, HOWEVER on the new clutch (ACT 2100) it's about 1,000rpm higher 5,500rpm seems to be it's sweet spot.

That is one of the first major mods I would do if I were you. As trying to make more HP on the stock clutch is a waste of time IMO.

When you install an aftermaket clutch that is stronger than stock (in my case a ACT 2100) the car acts like a whole deferent animal.. Because the stock clutch slips on hard launch's and will also slip in the higher gears when you start makeing more HP in race like conditions.

I would sudjest trying a launch first at 4,000 rpm and see how your car reacts. If it bogs on the launch then incress the rpm's and try again.
