Sounds like metal on metal in the engine

I parked the car and redid part of the fuel system. When I parked it, it ran and drove ok, although I was running WAY rich. I could smoke out my 2 car garage in like 30 seconds. not good, I know. Although after redoing the fuel system and dealing with leak after leak with injectors, lines, etc. The car when started sounds like there is metal on metal in the engine, almost like the rings or the crank is full of gas. I tried pouring oil down in the cylinders(through the park plugs) and nothing changed. The car will idle fine with good oil pressure(stock gauge). Like I said previously, when I parked the car nothing was messed up.

I'm going to change the oil in it tonight and after that I will see if that helps me at all. I have went back to the stock injectors, FPR and rail. My car is a 1G.

Any help would be great, ask any and all questions, I need to get to the bottom of this.

If you were running that rich then your oil is flooded with gasoline and will have to be changed. I hope you didn't run your car for too long with that noise because that is doing extreme dammage to your motor. If your lucky you will change the oil, the noise will dissappear and you'll be lucky. You will see normal oil pressure however you'll be pumping through a horid oil and gas mixture which does little to lubricate your engine, thus that horible noise you heard.

However in most cases when this type of thing happens the noise dissappears, but 5000 miles later the motor goes tits because there was just soo much wear it was pretty well finished and it was lucky to run for another 5000 miles, usually less.

I ran the car maybe 20-30 miles with the 750cc injectors and then maye about 200 miles with the stock 450cc's back in there. Part of the time I was using a B&M FPR and a Walbro 255 the whole time. I never saw over 12lbs of boost the whole time.

boost does not matter to much, I mean the amount of load on the engine does..but any boost creates a much heavier load than a N/A car. When you are running to rich like that the fuel can and most liekly will leak past the rings and mix into your oil...which as Jim said, will give you very little protection/lubrication of the cylinders. I have known cars to run like this (from other problems, but same symptom) for maybe 30 miles and lose tons of compression. Check out your compression after changing the oil (prolly want a thicker weight;) ) and see where its at.

Did you jsut install 750cc injectors and drive around like that with out leanign them out properly? What happened?

Everyone pretty much said it. The oil on the cyl walls was geting washed off by all the gasoline being injected.

That reminds me I need to change my oil...

ok I changed my oil and the noise is less pronounced, although it is still there. It sounds like normal although revving is slower than normal. A possible rebuild may be in the works! not fun...

I could try pressing in the clutch pedal, although that would be really suprising if it was that simple.

It turned out my power steering pump was bad. I removed the belt and the engine started up like normal. Thank you everyone for helping me with this!

Hey! I've had the same problem with my power steering pump grinding like that! Mine didnt go bad doh... i just topped it off and it went silent. Tell ya, it scared the living schitt outta me when it started grindin! OMG
