think im getting heat soak

i havent really noticed anything, but i was reading in euro tuner (for the porsche) that this 1.8t was getting bad heat soak, they dynoed him for three runs in a row and the numbers dropped off bad. like 27hp . thats horrible
i have a small 16g and 2.5 turbo back and NBC and GM MAF. but i have the stock intercooler, i havent even cleaned it since i got it. and this car was flogged by the last owner.
i wonder if our cars get heatsoak especially with these tiny smic's
 
how many pounds are you pushing? hows the weather? theres alot of variables but in short our sidemounts arent the most efficient.
 
Clean that SMIC. It will make a huge difference in how well it can shed heat and it will help the turbo to spool faster if the IC is clean.

Will I be heat soaking my IC with my set-up? I have the modified dejontool SMIC with the mods in my sig, pushing 18psi in 80 degree weather.....
 
im pushing 14-15 psi and the weather is about 40 degrees. and yeah i know i need to clean my intercooler, i havent had much time to do some maintenance, i want to change the spark plugs and get new intercooler piping. and lots of other stuff
 
14-15psi on a 14b *pift* your fine dude. I would just take the IC off and clean it. Then put a filter on the valve cover vent and if you dont already have the EGR blocked off do that. That will keep the IC nice and clean and oily air out of the engine.

Untill you start pushing the 14b past 18psi you shouldn't have ANY problems with heat soak, unless your doing some 1 mile race's toping your car out LOL.

what type of gm maf is it ? around the upper ic pipe or turbo intake ? the hot ic piping could be heating hte hair going in before the maf. on a dyno your car isnt moving anywhere and yes if you run the car back to back to back without ramming cold air into your smic. it will get heatsoaded and you will lose hp like that.
 
yeah, i've read that site before, i just need to get time to do it. this car is just for playin around with. so it doesnt get driven much.
i was just thinking after reading that article that i could be losing performance because of heat saok. i know my intercooler has to be dirty as hell, because when i bought the car the turbo was bad and it was slinging oil into the engine, makin it smoke real bad. so its probably covered with oil.
