i know that they dont pass emissions, but we dont have a emissions law in my city. i was wandering if it would work to swap 2g manual transmission with the jdm cyclone 2.0 and would the 2 g trans. work fine with the jdm motor.

what if it is a 1gen jdm cyclone motor. the techs where my car is at said there would be a problem with some kind of sensor.

ok cool. but i think i am going to have this guy build me a short block. he is going to have everything balanced and blueprinted, then the pistons will be treated. he is going to charge me 1100. does that sound reasonable.

JDM GVR4 engines are the same as our 1G engines except for the 'Cyclone Intake' which is nothing more than a 1G intake with butterfly valves that close off throttle. There is no JDM 2G Cyclone. There was no JDM DSM's. No JDM Eclipses and no JDM Talons. The JDM engines we get are out of the Japanese Domestic Market Galant VR4's.

Does any one have a pic of the intake manifold?? I would like to see where the butterflys are located.. Thanks

So how much horse powe does the cyclone engine have? Also wasn't there was JDM Eclipses? I mean they had them in Japan and all, but I don't know about the engines. I think it had a about 220ps or 230ps 4G63 not too sure but something like that.

Japanese 4G63's that are in the japanese VR4's are rated on Japanese gas. It is a higher octane gas so it produces a little more power. (And I am no talking about the Evo 1-3)

dont mean to intrude on this convo, but i had it understood that the cylone motor came from japan, was in the vr-4 galants and had a nice 16g turbo stock, and the different intake manifold as well. maybe i am wrong, but i though i would bring it up. any comments?

they were the 14b with basically a 16g wheel. got one coming this week that i am dropping into my 2g gst.

Hey Tevenor, do you still utilize the MAP sensor, or did you block it off?

I used my 2G head for autocrossing purposes including a semi ported 2g intake which already had the MAP sensor mounting. I didn't install a JDM engine, just a 6-bolt block and a JDM GVR4 tranny. :)

The head, Intake manifold, and exhaust mani are practically the only pieces left that are 2G.

Hey everyone,

I just purchased a turbo JDM cyclone intake manifold for my 97 Eclipse GSX. It came with a throttle and the throttle elbow also and I wanted to know if anyone has installed one of these on a 2G turbo engine or knew about the dificulty of installing it on a 2G. It came off a 4G63 engine so I hope there won't be too much difficulty in installing it  . Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Charlie Shousha
