i could be wrong but someone i was talking to on the net is using a mustang maf and somethin like the translator he said it spooled his 50 trim a lil faster than the gm unit and was a better install and alot better performace.. anyone know anything about this

this is for dsm's its a kit comes with a mustang maf, somethin like a translator a intake pipe and filter for under 600

Word around the campfire is that AGP is working on something like this. I know that the Ford maf's voltage doesn't require a translator when used with the AEM ECU like the GM-MAF would.

yes agp is working on it right now, id wait for this if anyone is looking for some type of blow thru set up. its suppose to be just a wire tapping into your uicp, just the a egt probe into the exhaust manifold

$600OMG

I dotn really see the point in this, being that a stock 3" gm mas will support more hp than 90% on dsmers will ever reach. I already have a 3" mas and translator so Ill just stick with it.

well ya for 600 i would buy something else, but agp is trying to get something like this working, i hope its not 600 or it will be a waste of money sense you could just get a gm maft setup for half that

Lets not forget they have a 3.5" GM MAF as well. :) I think when it finaly gets time to buy one I might just go with the 3.5" just for the hell of it since I will already be spending what $300 or so on it.. mid as well.

didnt we just go through this crap with the gm mas thing. dont we all know how this story's gonna end. :p

that is just like the gm maft just with a ford mas, agp is working on a sensor that is just a wire that taps into the i/c about 6'' from the t/b. if this does work it will be alsome and clean up the engine alot

Using the ford MAF's with a translator of some kind, would be quicker responding and more efficient than the GM MAF's.

how would it be better they both do the same thing unless they could make or find a mas that is proven

First of all, I'm talking about voltage output ford MAF's.Take a translator, such as the one made for GM MAF's.For it to "read" the signal, it has to count pulses, for a predetermined amount of time to know what frequency the MAF is outputing. For a reasonably accurate count ,the amount of time has to be in the milliseconds range(thousandths of a second), my guess around 250(quarter of a second). To read a voltage output sensor, you need an ADC(Analog to Digital Converter), which can read voltage in the nanoseconds to microseconds range(billionths to millionths). So voltage outputs can be read far quicker than frequency outputs. Also the ECU has to count pulses in both cases, from the translator. So if you use a frequency output MAF, It takes time for the translator to read the MAF and then it takes more time for the ECU to read the translator, I would say at least a full second for the ECU to have a reading from the MAF.As apposed to a fraction of a second for a voltage output sensor/translator.

Also, it is FAR cheaper to design/build a translator for a voltage output MAF, than a frquency output such as the GM.

i dont know there a little slow with coming out with the fmic and the ford sensor plan. i talked to them like 4 months ago about this and ever sense then ive been talking to kevin sense he is the man making it. i guess there is one kit out right now and its on the car that is testing it out, i asked him for pics but he forgot about it so now there is more waiting. hopefully there will be more info from them within the next 3 weeks or they lost my money and its going to prostreet fmic.

theres no way a translator takes a second, the delay is probably a small fraction of a second

Care to explain why you think this is false statement is true? If it read the MAF signal that quick, it would be horribly inaccurate.

OK.

It's all in how you set up the software. Sure there needs to be a certain number of samples, and those samples take time to come in. But you don't have to wait until another full set of samples comes in to make another adjustment.

It's not sampling it is counting, I don't feel like arguing about this with people that don't know what they are talking about.
