I am going to run high boost, so of course I want it to be safe. What would you do? And why
Water injection it cool the charge (and steam clean the head)
Huge CO2 spray on the intercooler
I would guess the spray is more safe because their is no chance of hurting the motor, but I think t is more affective than the spray, sooo

i dont know enugh about water injection to give my opinon on wich would be better in your situation but good question

Well, water injection is outstanding in controling knock, but oy udo run the slight risk of hyrolock if too much water goes in and you are not at WOT.

By slightest, you mean no risk whatsoever. The just isnt enough water to do any damage.

I'd say WI....or both.

have the thing sqirting water in their wile ur not at wide open throttle, or even part throtle and you WILL have problems. Thei are parts of a good injection system that prevent this, but they can fail and make bad things happen. The CO2 sprayer will never and is not able to break anything if it fails.

WI usually starts at 12lb boost or so, very safe. FMIC spray only helps on extended boost sessions when the IC overheats. Spray water on em both, water is cheap.

I duno if it has been said but you could also go with propane injection, which is better IMO becouse it is a fuel. There is no way in $#&* you can hurt it by injecting more fuel... all it can do is make you run rich.

Plus I think when you add up the aditives for water injection and the kit's price tag, Propane installs faster and the kit cost less $300 I think.

I know when I get my setup started im going to use & CO2 on my IC. The only disadvantage to propane is if you dont have it setup and tuned just right you will get some hesitation when it comes on but then the power soars to the sky.

There is 2 ways to keep that from happening. Have some controled way of injection like slowly injecting a small amount the the amount needed to meet the demand. OR the better/right way a Stand alone. Have a deferent fuel map tuned for the propane.

The whole point of it is to take away some of the gasoline being injected (just a tad) and replace it with the propane. This then fills the combustion chamber completely with a fuel so that it burns quicker and cooler. Gasoline only creat's hot spots becouse it is a liquid vapor and does not make a perfect mix with the air in the combustion chamber.

So by haveing a even fuel mix it gets rid of thoughs hot spots and knock with it. Alowing for more boost and power to be made.

Also it normaly lowers exhaust temps 100* or more. I think I saw a car runing 900*C without it then the same one 800C* with it. :thumb:

Aquamist makes a really nice water injection kit.
I have it on my car running 50% and 50% alcohol
The kit comes with an ajustable pressure swith
to you can set it at what boost pressure you want
it to come on at. I'm running 23 lbs on 93 octane
with no knock. If you got the $$ go for both.

Going to go for 25 after I fix my balance shaft problem:cry:

I have been thinking about adding a CO2 sprayer into the mix on my car. I currently run a cooliing mist meth injection kit....I assuming by your post there is no problem with this?
Thanks in advance for the info, By the way Anyone know where to get a FULL big bottle kit....possibly CRYo2?

Go with water in the intercooler. I used Co2 on my supercharged T-bird for a summer and it didn't come close to what i was able to achieve with water injection from just using an extra winshield washer sprayer from an old dodge colt in the junk yard and a few extra nitrous parts for the feed/nozzle. I didn't really meter the water at all, i just used a few nitrous fitting for direct port setup and drilled a small hole in the intercooler ( on the hot side) and had a the piece of this tubing JB welded in there with the end pinched off and a bunch of little tiny holes drilled in it for the finest mist i could get.

I'm wanting to run meth injectionnext but not having much experience with it ( i've done simple alky setups before ) I'm really hoping ot learn a lot and gain the ability to run high boost levels without the porice of 118 gas.

Go get the universal water injection kit from DevilsOwn alcohol water injection- methanol

I use it on my car and its great. i have the smallest nozzle and i just tapped into the stock tanks.

I'm injecting straight windshield washer fluid. I've been able to run upwards of 20-21 degrees of timing at 27 psi on my FP green at a 11:1 AFR.

I honestly thing all cars should have water injection. Even if your not trying to push your car to the limits it will helps with knock. We all know how ### pump gas can be sometimes and this is just giving you that warm fuzzy feeling.

My injection doesn't come on till 6 PSI and i can adjust it depending on what i really want.

Sorry if i'm repeating some of the things already said in the thread.......i didn't read everything.

Holy Thread Revival!!

But if your talking about adding a kit to spray your IC, I think it would be a waste of money considering you already have a Meth Kit. Just step up to a bigger nozzle if you need more...

Haha, I know...I like to search for similar posts then post to help keep the board clean

Hmmm, I never really thought of that to be honest.... I appeciate the input. Would it be benificial to keep my oringinal injector where it is (about 16 inches from the TB) and throw another Injector on the IC pipe running from the turbo? This way it can cool through the intercooler vaporizing (keeping the IC cool) and fiurther cool once more near the throttle body.

Meth and Aluminum don't mix...

So what does it do to the inside of our intakes and cylinder heads? Just curious, like i've stated before i've never run meth.. Just acohol and water mix before. I'm in the process of getting a meth kit, but if it's going to oxydize the inside of my head and intake i think i'll pass!

Its only going to hurt aluminum if its under constant contact. Like a part of the meth kit be made from alum would have problems like a tank or fittings. Yes, there are meth company's that use alum in there kits :( So you really have to watch what your getting. We don't even use uncoated brass, ect for the nozzles.

But its not going to hurt alum heads or intakes even if you run large amounts of meth.

I had sent you an email asking about your kits, did you ever get it?

Not the one about you looking for people to test bed your product ( but i sent one there too )

Please see if you got my 2nd mail and respond when you have time, Thank you!

In case you didn't get it. One of the main things i was wondering about is a pure "base kit" no pressure sensor, just the tank, pump and nozzle and the neccessary plumbing. Please let me know via email or PM on here. Thanks again

I highly recommend a kit like the ones from Devils Own. There are a few other kits out there but since the folks at Devils also support the community he gets the bump. We have installed tons of his kits on EVOs and they are excellent. Great quality and one of the easier kits to install.

My personal favorite is 50/50 alky and water. You won't regret it.

Is the 50/50 just as effective as meth? I've ran that before and mainly used is as a cooling aid and detonation prevention. But I never thought that you could run so much extra boost on it like you hear of people doing with pure meth.

Could be i haven't tested it enough. I usually stick to what i know is tried and trued ( especially on customer's cars) i'll experiement on my own stuff unless the customer wants toassume the risk of being the "test bed". But usually people come to me wanting a tune that's going to hold together and make good power while being able to be beat on constantly so i keep things cool with their rides.

There's a shop here in town that blows up about every car they tune while on the dyno. i've gotten to remap a lot of them and found as much as 47* of timing under 20+ psi of boost and A/F's as lean as 14-14.5:1 under the same boost. And the guy says he's a tuner LOL
