Raleigh,
I just purchased a 97 GS-T from the dealership i work at and brought it home to find out that for some reason the SMIC was taken out of the car and the guy rerouted the pipes so that the lower IC pipe goes directly from the turbo up into the intake manifold, bypassing the intercooler altogether. So I'm purchasing a used sidemount to replace it.

Question: How difficult will it be for me to mount the intercooler myself? Will i need any other brackets or parts in order to do it correctly? Any info or experience on the matter would be helpful. Thanks!

Take the car back to the dealership and ask them why they did that...Thats pretty weird man.

Uhh yeah. the car is a friggin gernade just waiting to blow up without that intercooler. That is a very important piece of equipment and not an accessory. Thats like selling you a car without a tire or something. You can NOT drive your car without an intercooler, 11-13psi stock is way too much for no intercooler.

Mounting the intercooler is easy and it should slap back into the same spot. Depending on what buddy did with the pipes you will have to do some modification there, but it shouldn't be that big of a deal.

Yeah. mounting the IC back onto the car shouldn't be a problem at all. I've done it a couple of times, rather simple if you ask me... as for the car not having an IC, that is not good... I wonder just how long its been running without one..
