Im trying to get a turbo dsm soon , but i was wondering how many of yall or people yall know have had the crank walk issue , is it real common or does it just happen rarely ? THX

Umm yea im pretty sure i didnt ask what crank walk was .... let me check ..... umm nope sure didnt i asked how often does it really occur ... read the text before replying plz . THX

Run a search. There was a post here that showed the % of it happening to different years of 2gs somewhere.

=^.^=

56% were "1997 Turbo DSMs" *

15% were "1996 Turbo DSMs" *

9% were "1995 Turbo DSMs" *

9% were "1998 Turbo DSMs" *

9% were "1999 Turbo DSMs" *

1% were "1994 or older 1g Turbo DSMs" (most of these had over 100,000 miles and were moderately to heavily modded **.)

1% were "Other" Non Eclipse/Talon/Laser vehicles with 4G63 turbo motors. (IE Galant VR4s, or Transplant cars, most of these had over 100,000 miles and were moderately to heavily modded **. )

Just keep in mind, that this just shows the % out of the cars that had crankwalk. Not the actual % of getting crankwalk. ;)

This was what I was referring to in my previous post. Check this link out for more info. Crankwalk

Okay, repeat after me, "ANY car can get crankwalk!" Also, these questions can be answered by utilizing a search of ANY of the plethora of DSM sites and other performance websites. It's not a mysterious, undiagnosed disease.

Just a quick summary of what i understand it to be , its where the bearing things or what ever they are that hold ur crank in place get loose and ur crank falls out of place .

The thrust bearing wears prematurely and crankshaft endplay get waaaay out of spec causing difficulty with shifting and eventually may rip off the crank position sensor renduring the car undrivable.
