I am looking to upgrade my turbo and I came down to these two turbos, SBR's 2GB16G vs SBR's 2G20G. I have search dsmtuners database for information regarding these turbo and had no luck. If any members have these turbos on there cars, please let me know when they spool, the difficulty installing the turbos, any gains or loses from these turbos versus some other turbo, their efficiency, etc. Im choosing between these two turbos because they do not use any j-pipes. My goal is at least run high 12's. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

I have the 2g20g on my car right now. I like it quite a bit. I think it's very ideal for us FWD's. The boost kicks in around 3250 rpm's and it holds very strong to the red line. It comes with an adjustable waste gate actuator so that's nice. The customer service at Slowboy is exceptional. It feels a lot different than the T25. If you pick one of these up and expect to reach full boost at like 2800 rpm's, you will be disappointed. The tradeoff is traction though as it is a more linear accelleration process which allows for much more traction up front. I would very highly recommend this turbo to you. I have mine set at 12 psi until I get some fuel mods installed to support it, but 12 psi feels pretty good let me tell you. If you have any other or more specific questions please feel free to PM me. Good luck with your decision, hope I helped.

Matt

i also have the 2g20g. i got the smaller version, clipped, and ported to hell.

i feel the same as said above. boost kicks in hard @ 3100ish for me. i only have it set at 12 psi right now, i am waiting to play with the dsmlink on thanksgiving. hopefully i can get this turbo up to 20psi.

feels like a good turbo. however, i wish i woulda gone green, etc. ah well.

I will be going with the 2G 20G over the winter. I have also searched quite abit but haven't really found many reviews on it, but the one's i do find are always good.

I think it's quite a good deal and you might as well go with the 20G for the extra 50 bucks...

I don't have eather turbo, but I might as well put my two cents in. LOL
I have been researching turbos for quite a while. I was 1st set on a 20g, but now i have decieded to go w/ a garret 50 trim. I just like being able to upgrade without having to buy a whole new turbo. You might want to looking into a 50 trim. I know sbr racing makes some hybrids that bolt right on to the 2g manifold. But as I'm still stuck with the t to small (t 25) I really can't offer much help. Seeing how I was set on a 20g then changed me mind just thought I would offer up my thoughts on the subject.

i have just put in a SBR stage 1 motor, 8.5:1 with 1g rods. i have a ported clipped small 16g but i am about to buy the evoIII 16g from slowboy. DSMs have run 118 trap speeds on a evoIII turbo. WERD:thumb:

A Big16G is capable of getting you into the 12s, but I would think the turbos potential would be just about maxed about by then. I would go with the TD06 20g, the price tag on one isn't that much more, and you'll have more room to work with. People nowadays are looking into to 50/56 trim from pte. Alot more potentional, not to mention it great prices :thumb:. But just one word of advice: Get a LSD while you're at it. :D

I consider an LSD a must in a front wheel drive. Whats the fun in smoking one tire off and moving 10 feet diagonally to the right or left...

The slowboy 2GB16G has already gone into the 12.5's on a friend of mines car who can't tune to save his life. But it's an AWD 2G so i would lean on the 20G so your not instantly spinning the tires off on your 1-2 shift. Plus if you have the 20G your not going to be instantly wanting a bigger turbo as the 16g's are usually easy to tune and some folks grow bored with them. just 2 cents i had laying around.

Thanks for the replys. I already have a BM LSD insert so that's taken care of. Well, I was set at buying the 2gb16g but sbr is out of them right now so I just ordered a 2g20g. Should be getting it in a couple of days and let you guys know how it goes. Thanks.

hey, do you like that insert? Was it hard to install? Let us know what's up with the 20g.

i just got a td05 20g and let me tell you, once u get this thing up to about 18lbs you'll be amazed.. it pulls HARD. over 20lbs its just crazy how smooth and fast the car gets going..!

Fast spooling...around 3000k

I have a chance to get a frank jr. 17c from a friend for 400, so i'm not sure if i should just go for that or not.

I hate to bring up an old thread but.......
anyone that has the 2G20G

Any updates on it's performance or downfalls?

I'd love to here from someone that can compare it to a 16G

i got SBRs 16g and its sick as hell. im running like 16-17 PSI on the street with pump gas and it pulls awesome and its pretty much untuned. I did some blind tuning with the SAFC but i have no datalogger so im sure i still have untapped potential. it feels like it will run 13s for sure and i still have stock SMIC and some other things that still need upgrading. this sunday ill be hitting the track to get some numbers from this, ill let ya know what i get
