Bypassing the sencond O2 sensor

My exhaust shifted and the end of the sensor rubbed against the heat sheild. Now the car keeps throwing a code.

Is there a way to fake the signal that the ECU needs to verify that the sensor is working? I assume that it uses a 0-1V scale just like the primary sensor. If I can send .88 volts back into the signal wire would that be enough (without damaging anything) to stop this code?

If I can't fake it, does anyone have an extra one they want to sell?

Also, does this code inhibit performance?
 
Try wrapping aluminum foil around the sensor, and then tywrapping it to something so it won't fly all around and hit shit. :thumb:
 
The problem at the moment is that the wires at the sensor have been frayed by the heat sheild. This is causing the sensor to short out and therefore tripping the code. I want to fake the "everything is fine" signal that the sensor sends to the ECU.

Taking it out and wrapping it up will do me no good :(

I thought I completely read through that site.. .I guess I missed that one.

Which resistor did you have problems finding?
 
The one that is used to bypass the heating element. Where the author says
"You'll need a resistor of ~12 Ohms. This heater element flows around 1 Amp of current so you'll need resistors that can dissipate at least 12 Watts of current. Don't scrimp here as under-rated resistors could light your car on fire."

It was funny, all the stereo and radio shack guys gave us a funny look and told us we'd have to order it online or something 'cause they didn't have anything that big. Said we'd need a sandstone resistor or something.
 
OK, I see. FYI Radio Shack have almost completely left the small electronics biz. They fell before digikey and the like... which is probably where he told you to go.


It looks like I might have access to some of those large resistors. Hmmm.
