ok, i have just purchased a big 16g, and installed it andeveryting... i did cranked it over for 30 secs to get the oil flowing through it, and then i started it up...

when it started, it spewed smoke from between the intake and exhaust sides of the turbocharger. what is happening here? There was a lot of condensation on the intake side of the turbo, but that shouldnt be the problem. I installed all the gaskets, and there is not any coolant or oil leaks (as far as i know).

im just stumped. I replaced my 14b b/c the rubber spacer on the intake got sucked in, and shreded up, bending all the fan blades. This led to alot of rubber shavings being suckd through the intake (i found some near the throttle body).

HELP!!!

P.S. it is leaking exhaust from that area too, but it might just be my downpipe not tightly bolted down.

Get in and drive that thing man. When I first changed my turbo the same thing happened and I freaked too. I realized that no matter how careful you are that is a dirty job. Oil and coolant are going to get on things. The second turbo I put on did the same thing. So do not worry unless smoke comes from your tailpipe. I would take it easy on the turbo initially, but other than that go have fun and dont worry.

Alot of times on a brand new turbo you will have some smoke. If it continues to smoke after you've ran it awhile, then something is probably wrong. I wouldn't worry about it to much initially.

I probly just got some oil and/or coolant in it when I took it off. I didnt clean it though. Brought it strait to the machine shop for the stud to be removed.

Just make sure it isn't leaking oil.

But yeah, antiseize and liquid wrench will smoke off of the manifold for a day or so.

The smoking turbo is normal initially.

I am more concerned that you didn't take the intake apart and clean out all the rubber shavings. There is nothing you can do about the bits that got into the engine, but the TB, BOV and IC should be cleaned (along with the piping.

cleaned out the intercooler and all pipes, and now it runs smoothly, however, my datalogger found a timing code "36" which im confused about...
