NGK BPR8ES Plugs

I just bought a set of plugs for my 99 gst and the guy sent me the bpr8es plugs instead of the 7es. Are these plugs ok to run on my car its stock ingnition with all the basic bolt ons. thanks for the help

How basic are the bolt ons? Sounds like the standard BPR6ES would do just fine. I wouldn't run the BPR8ES, nor would I bother with the 7ES unless your really pushing boost.

I would use the 7ES plugs for 18+psi, and the 8ES's for 23+psi. The car will run really weird with those 8ES's in there.

Jeeze, I run 8's in my Suzuki 1000, and it's air-cooled. Way too cold a plug for a DSM.

Naw, you can run 2-3 stages colder and it's not a problem. We run 9's on some Hondas that make 400whp and they seem to run better on 9's and the stock is 5.

I have personally ran 7's and 8's on my own car and didn't notice a difference really. I just run whatever I have laying around the shop and my idle doesn't change nor does my 1/4 time so it really doesn't matter from what I have experienced. I don't think I would try a 9 or anything like that however.

Looking at your modifications I would say that those plugs are too cold for your application. You have the stock turbo, no fuel upgrades and, SHOULD be running low boost (15psi at most). The 7es's aren't even necessary, you'll be fine with 6es's.
