1g intake manifold on a 2nd gen head?

I have 96 Talon TSi (FWD) and the runners are significantly larger on the 1gen intake manifolds then my 2nd gen. First, Would i get any extra power putting that 1 gen on the 2nd gen head? Or since the ports on the 2nd gen head are the a smaller size then the 1gen manifold, it wont perform any different. And if that would it be easier to put the 1st gen head with intake manifold on a 2nd gen block? Any modifications?

You would need to match the ports to gain the most top end power. Else it is just another restriction.

you can't just match the ports on the head like you match the port on the intake manifold when putting on a larger throttle body though can you? It has to be done by machines so they are all ported the exact same? I have a 1g throttle body on my 2g and I have a 1g IM sitting in my garage .. just hesitant to mess with porting on my head.

Even though the ports on the manifold are larger than the ones on the head, you will still see a difference in flow... I was going to do the same thing and then got talked into doing the entire 1G head swap.
