I bought a Greddy Type-S off a friend and put it into my GSX. I have it ruuning back into the intake (not venting). When I stomp on the gas it works perfect, but... if i give the car a little gas, say going up a hill at a normal pace... there is a sound as if you placed your hand over the vacume cleaner hose in your house. It sounds like the BOV is leaking out like a SSSSSHHHHHHH! (as if you were telling someone to be quite). The only other mod, engine wise is a K&N. Does the piston need to be relaced? I have tried tuning it out with the ajustment screw. If i put it in hard it barly blows off and if i let it out till it blows off it always makes that sound! Help me out Gods of DSM's:dsm: :thumb:

dude your bov is supposted to make that psssshhhht sound (the greddy makes like a high pitch release). so if u hear that sound that is ok but is your bov is making a deep stuttering sound then u have to back the screw out a lil more until the stuttering is at a minimal. u still will get a lil stuttering at low psi but overall should make that nice psssshhht sound to turn peoples heads.

No your BOV should not be leaking as you cruise up a hill. Are you sure your turbo isn't spooling because I know mine does if I'm at a high enough RPM (3000+), like when cruising on the highway. The extra load and throttle required to climb a hill spools the turbo.

It may be the noise from you K&N when the turbo spolls up. BOV shouldn't leak if you screw in that tight.

I used to have the hardest time getting my type S tuned. I had to have the spring adjusted pretty soft otherwise at part throttle releases I'd get a sputter and my car would buck. When I installed my MBC instead of capping off the pressure nipple on the comp housing, I ran a vacuum line to the small nipple on the BOV. After that I was able to tighten the adjustment screw til there were 3-5 threads showing. Now it doesn't matter when/how I let off the throttle it blows off just fine. Sounds MUCH better too under full boost blow offs.

I have the exakt same problem now...At part throttle release the car stutters like hell..doesnt matter how I turn the screw on the Type S. On a WOT release it worksjust fine..but say I cruise alittle and then let off hte gas...it stutters and bucks andmakes a cchhoocchhooocchhoo sound:-(
Could you explain more how you conneceted the vac lines? I also have a MBC so... ;-.)

There are two nipples on the type S. Top and bottom. The top nipple gets a pressure line via the manifold. This line is also the one your MBC Tees off of. In the VFAQ MBC install directions it state to cap off the pressure nipple on the compressor housing. Instead, run a vac. line from there to the lower (smaller) nipple on the the BOV. I've heard of some 1Gs doing this and having problems, but it works great for me.

After my 1st MBC shat the bed on me I had to hook back up to the stock boost controller for a while. When I did this, I had to loosen my BOV again and I still got stutter and compressor surge at part throttle releases. Now that I've got my new DMBC installed I reinstalled my Vac. lines so both nipples were used. TYPE S works perfect again. Fast reacting and sounds great :thumb:
