Hey all,
My Talon has about 175K on the stock bottom end, and I've recently started to think about a rebuild. This is not going to happen for a few months, as I have a lot of homework to do, but I thought I would start spec'ing this stuff out now. My goals are as follows: I would like to build a motor that makes no more than 400HP to the crank. I don't think I will be upgrading towards anything beyond a 20G. I would like to build this motor to be as reliable as possible. Longevity is key. I have already researched shops, and the shop I have picked has an incredible amount of testimonials and about 30 years of experience. They will be doing a minor port and polish on the head, and the block will be bored .020 over, balanced and blueprinted. Here are the parts that I have chosen so far. Please remember that price is a factor here. Right now I'm at about $1300 in parts alone. I don't really want to spend more than that, but a few extra bucks towards a better motor is well worth it.
Mach V Top Line Engine Rebuild Kit - .020 over
ARP Head Studs
ARP Main Studs
Mach V MBCAD Kit - (Just in case. I'm working with a 7-bolt.)
ACT 2600 Clutch - (While I'm in there)
New Oil Pan (Old one was dented by previous owner)
New Valve Cover (Old one has a JBWelded crack)
Any input at all would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Matt.
