ok as much as I hate to ask this question cuz I know ive read over and over again on dsmtalk when newbies get flamed. Exactly what would I need to convert from FWD to AWD, any idea on pricing, and has anyone ever done this successfully?? Im serious about this becuase if the $$ ever becomes available I would seriously consider doing this. I would rather invest in this then a LSD, Smaller Rims, Drag Radials, Beefy Clutch etc etc to get anythign close to the same results that AWD would yield me..

WOW that's going to be a huge project. The cost for parts will be astronomical. it may prove cheaper to pull your mods and dump the gst and just buy a x you will need a trans, trasfer case, complete drive shaft, complete rear suspension, rear and lots of other stuffOMG

road race is the only place that i know of that can do the conversion the right way. cost is roughly 6 grand tho.. that includes everything.

Larryd, if you did find a junk car, you can do it, The suspension, gastank, tranny, drive shaft, transfer case, hmmm.....
ECU I guess, that might cover it, but the suspension has alot of peices!

sounds more intense then anything I want to venture into anytime soon.. maybe if I come into more $$ then I k now what to do with like after I win the 300 million on tuesday :)

Yah, thing is that you just don't see any 2G's in the junkyard. I know we don't have any around here and we have tons of jy's. Even if they had a 2G, odds are it would be an RS or smth. AWD's are rare...if im not mistaken they represent like 1% of the total 2G population. I think total turbo 2g's was like 5%(both awd/fwd).

Unless you are just out to get killer time slips at the track and launch hard/be very abusive to your car :>, then FWD is just as good on the street IMO, not to mention they are fun to drive. I know all my races are from a roll = negating AWD advantage. Then again, I would lose to the 700HP supra's we have running around from a roll LOL..for that matter, heads&cam's LS1's.

Don't get me wrong, AWD is awesome, just depends on what your preferences are.

I know each car has its benefits but knowing that I cant get out of the high 13s only becuase lack of traction is killing me.. If I was AWD id be in the 12s like it was nothing..
