hey fellow dsm tuners i recently made a very important decision. i had to choose between my semi-modded talon tsi fwd or a stock awd. i know your all going to say the awd but to get the awd i have to save up till dec. cause im tight on money. i have the money to keep modding my fwd and make it through stage 1 in the modding list all i need is a 2.5'downpipe and an 02 houising w/ dump .i know all you guys are going to bash on me but i choose my fwd. any fwd fellows gonna back me up on this?allright everybody done bashing on me? anyways i did it cause i really like my car and i know with an LSD and some slicks i know i wont regret it.all comments are welcome.i know all you fellow dsm tuners will have some good comment and advise. thanks guys!

Having owned a 1G AWD and now drive a 2G FWD, I would honestly say go FWD. ( Putting on fireproof suit :thumb: ) For most driving we regular people do, hard launching and extreme traction are not in the mix. I prefer the lightweight feel of a FWD vs. an AWD. Highway driving is what matters to me, so yeah those AWD can beat me in the quarter, but don't slow down, because the race starts at the end of the quarter for me. :)

yeah, if youre into all drag, then awd was the way to go, me on the other hand am a honda hunter, most of my kills come from rolling up on someone at like 30mph or so, thats where fwd comes in handy:thumb:

Dont get me wrong about the luxury of awd. But I take pride in learning my car and not just reving and dumping. A true driver likes the constant change in a launch. Plus I love front wheel drives had them all my life.:thumb:

I still like front drive. It's simple light and effective when you know how to use it properly. I miss being able to light up the tires on the highway into a blue furry of smoke or down shifting and rolling up beside a honda then dumping the clutch at like 40 and spinning the tires.

When I took people for rides in my old GTi VR6 it would scare the shit out of them cause it would lay rubber for 3 gears no problem and still rub the tires over through part of 4th. My TSi AWD is just as fast as my old GTi was but it doesn't feel that way. I take guys for rides now in my TSI and they are like yeah it's fast, but they would fall out of my GTI cause they were scared because it felt like such a crazy ride. Just incase your wondering my GTi had a direct port NX setup with 125hp shot plus a lot of other goodies. Putting about 325whp in 2600lbs with me in the car made for a fun ride. The install was acctually featured in HCI magazine this month incase anybody saw it.

At the track I could pull low 1.8 60ft times with a Quaife and Slicks no problem I could have reached a 1.7 i'm sure if I tried a little harder.

Moral of the story you can go fast on the street in a FWD car, there are lots of them trust me. You can go fast at the track in a FWD car with slicks. Where an AWD car ownes is at the lights with V8's and the track when you can just drive in the gate right to the staging lanes and pull a mid 12 with absolutly no chages in your setup.

hey fellas! i appriciate all the possitive comments.you guys are so cool.i will stick to my fwd and go all out on it.i know that if i ever need some help i could always come here and get some advise from you guys.as soon as i get my car past stage 2 i will go run my car at the track. and show all them v8's what a 4cyl. can do specially being fwd.im forming a local car crew that consist of nothing but turbo cars,no hondas, of course some dsm's,several t-type regals, and 2 infamous Grand Nationals. so as soon as we all get our shit together we will all head to the track and kill some v8's.thanks for all the positive comments fellas.later!

the stages are in the tuning guide.it shows you what each stage consist of, stage one is basic bolt-ons and stage 2 is pretty much internals and self tuning devises.the tuning guide is a good way to get your car going to the right path, you cant go wrong with the tuning guide.only my 2 cents.late!

I'm FWD love it..I also like to go from rolls. Wouldn't mind goin to the track, just takes some practice on launching and you can net some good times..hehe, I am done with "Stage 2" Now into own "stage 3" modding

LOL I think you are a little confused... It's not just rev and dump in an AWD. If you do that, you'll break things, A LOT of things... It's not easy to launch an AWD perfectly...

You guys who claim FWD are so much better for the highway are way wrong.

The higher your speed, the less weight plays a factor. In terms of top speed, weight has ZERO influence, horsepower and aerodynamics is all that matters.

There are not a lot of extra drivetrain losses from AWD, some, but not a huge amount.

Racing on the highway is where you go when you want to pit your car against someone else's car. Racing from a stop is what you do when you want to compare the total package of driver + car.

hey fellas i got good news and bad news. the bad news is i have to get rid of my fwd,but the good news is that i will be a proud owner of an awd.thats right fellas.i borrowed some money from my moms and by dec i will purchase my awd. the thing is that when i get my awd im swapping everything i got on my fwd to my awd except the exhaust, the boost gauge and the turbo timer as the one im purchasing will come with the car already.i will only swap the evo3 exhaust manifold, apexi s-afc,starion fmic, greddy type-s blow off valve, oil pressure gauge and the air&fuel guege.then my friend really wants my car so i will sell it to him and pay my mom the money she loaned me.i will then have an awd baby! i will miss doing burnouts on my fwd though, but i will have that off the line power baby!so im soon to be a proud owner of the infamous AWD!

Since my AWD Talon went under the knife I have been driving a FWD Saturn SL2 and it has not failed to remind me everyday why a got out of driving FWD's! I miss the control and confidence AWD gives, when you point it in a particular direction, it goes that way with no fuss. I will give up a little "highway" acceleration anyday for all around superior driveability! AWD is great in all weather conditions too, rain, snow, ice, dirt, whatever...GOD I miss my REAL car!!!!!!!!!!!:thumb:

Top speed, maybe weight has little to do with it.

But *GETTING UP THERE* weight definately is a factor.

And for what's its worth, if you actually y'know, turn the wheel at some point, AWD tools on FWD.

gd someof u dont know how to drive....yes most fwd cant pivot well but my gst can and by the way....I dare a similar modded awd to try and keep up ona roll from 10mph or more. Oh yeah fwd can launch hard you JUST GOTtA KNOW HOW TO DRIVE.

ill put my car back to stock and race your gst from ten miles an hour... awd has a killer second gear.

both cars have their benefits...id love to have a gst as a daily driver but if im going all out on a car its not gonna be a fwd
