Specific exhaust questions

Lookin for some info about products and terminology pertaining to exhaust systems available for 2G DSMs.

Boost creep? Apparently caused by an inadequate wastegate system ... why does buschur's website specify porting for exhaust manifold, turbine housing, and o2 housing needed for installation of their 3" system? What do these components have to do with the wastegate?

Why haven't I seen much information about such problems coming from other company's products such as Hahn's o2 Eliminator downpipe? What specifically is done differently there to eliminate the reporting of problems such as boost creep in their product?

I'd like to get my entire exhaust done before I move onto any other modifications, and once it's done I'd like to forget about it if I can. I want an exhaust system that could handle any modifications in the future for a sleeper/daily driver.

Currently sporting no modifications save for a K&N FIPK, I'm thinking exhaust, fuel pump, injectors, new turbo (thinking 16g or T28 for sleeper/ease reasons), 2600 clutch, short-throw shifter, BOV and IC piping (probably SMIC as well) as far as modifications in the future (not necessarily in this order).

The question becomes, what exhaust system to buy and why? I'm not going for a drag racer but I definitely need more speed. Help me out here guys, I need your experience.

The difference between the Buschurs and Hahns is that Hahn's replace the stock 02 housing while the Bushur does not. Since the Hahn's replaces the stock 02 unit you do not need to port or upgrade since it is already part of the package.

If you decide to go full 3", it's pretty much mandatory that you port at least the O2 housing. If you are upgrading the turbo at the same time, your best bet is to get the upgraded 34mmwastegate flapper. That's the BEST way to elininate boostcreep without an external.

I spoke with a sales rep from Hahn Racecraft earlier today, and it was suggested to me that even with the o2 eliminator I'd still require an external wastegate to prevent boost creep. To be honest the whole concept seems pretty rediculous to me, all I want is maximum flow. This is turning out to be more of a project than I'd anticipated.

All tuning/porting issues aside, smaller turbos (anything under a 20g) will not have HORRIBLE boost creep issues if it's setup right.

Match your parts wisely and have fun.

With that turbo upgrade of yours in mind, I'd run a 2.5" 02 dumped, 2.5-3" RRE downpipe, and whatever catback system you want to run. Send the exhaust mani to be ported, get it tuned right, do the rest of the supporting mods, and it should be fine.
