Help with a 2g head and 1g block

I have a rebuilt 6 bolt block/head and a rebuilt 2g head. I am putting the engine in a 97 2g and was wondering if it would be easier and less 1 g parts needed to use my 2g head? Basically if I use the 2g head do I still use the 1g oil cooler, water pipe, lower rad hose and thermostat housing? Also do I need to use the 1g oil cooler of can I use a 2g oil cooler? Also if I use the 2g head and 1g block what timing parts do I use?

I dont know that answer to most of those questions but why would you use the 2g head? The 1g flows better. Also since youre using a 1g motor you wouldnt have to do any modifications.

You do not need any of those items. 2g heads pack more of a midrange punch and are actually better than 1g heads for normal street use. Most of us would probably never reach the point where a 1g head is needed to achieve more power. If you use a 2g head on a 1g then the head stud holes would have to be drilled out. You would have to use either 1g or 2g upper radiator hose but a 1g one is prefered.

PS: I forgot to mention that if a 1g block is used then 1g timing necessities are used. If a 2g head is used then a 2g water neck is used.
