Even though I don't really adjust boost that much, when I do it is always a pain to have to pull over everytime I want to turn it up or down just a notch. So I relocated my turboxs standard boost controller inside the car where the cigerette lighter used to be. I've seen pictures of it done before so I'm sure several of you have done something similar. The install was pretty easy and looks good. And it is a million times easier to adjust boost with it like this.

For anyone interested in exactly what I used and what I did:

Started with one Turboxs standard MBC and then bought:

18 feet of vacuum hose. (I don't really know what inner diameter I bought because I just brought the old stuff in and matched it the closest I could.

Two new clips to put the hose onto the actuater and compressor side, because the line I bought was a little thicker than the old.

1 half inch rubber gromet I found at home depot.

Took the MBC off and the old vacuum hose.
Took off the section between the seats which has the cup holder, arm rest, stick and goes around the stock cd player. You have to take off the plastic that goes around the AC controls first by popping it out. There are two screws under there and two screws under the cupholder/ashtray assembly. Once they are removed with the top of the stick (I'm not sure how it works with an automatic car) the section pops off.
Remove the whole cigerette lighter assembly so that you are left with just a hole...very easy to do. But leave plastic piece that goes around the top, you'll need it.

I ran the vacuum hose through the boot around where the steering assembly goes through. Then into the center section up to where the hole for the lighter will be.

If you aren't running a turboxs boost controller, this part won't work and you'll have to figure out another way to have the boost controller sit in the hole where the lighter would be.
When you place the half inch rubber gromet around the top of the boost controller it will sit flush in the hole where the lighter is. Put everything back together.

I'll try and get some pictures up when I can.

I'm on the t25....you'll have to explain when the boost spike stops and when the turbo's own inability to hold boost starts.

Great if it works, but that's a nasty design point. Try to find some speedometer cable, and build a remote knob for the adjuster instead.

The turboxs one I have requires the use of an allen wrench...it'd be a little more difficult to set it up like that. Thanks for the idea though.

<18 feet of vacuum hose.>

Why not use that hard plastic hose that comes with boost gauges?
No flex, smaller volume, after all, vacuum hose is for vacuum.

Junk yards have lots of it on mid-late 80s fords - look low on the left
fender well under the hood in the lack corrugated loom, it's even
color-coded !

i have an extreme boost controller and i have it under my dash, thats a heck of a long vacuum line and i dont get any boost spikes

Or why not just get a Hallman Pro Evolution Series MBC like I did? It may be a little pricey but I have seen that TurboXS one go for like $135, you can get the Hallman for $165 shipped, and it doesnt require 18' ft. of vaccum line. Im not a fan of TurboXS products but im sure the boost controller works great, just esier to buy the Hallman. Works great, holds strong, easy install, easy adjustments.

I was just going to pipe in about the Hallman evo also... I love mine! Very good adjustability and no bad side effects since the mbc itself sits right next to the turbo... :thumb:
