cold air intake for turbo

i emailed DejonTool about making a cold air setup for our turbo dsm's with a FMIC. this is how the emial went-

Hello, have you guys ever thought of making a cold air intake setup for those who have a FMIC. The air filter could sit where the stock SMIC used to be.

I'm sure you have thought of this, i just wondered why it has never been marketed? Buschur has one but, its be used with a VPC and they charge $200(too expensive). I'm looking to do a homeade CAI for use with the 2g mas on my 1st gen. Just a suggestion.

Where exactly do you want the 2G MAS to be located?

the 2g mas will be located where the filter rests right now.
it will go something like this-- air filter (below engine bay), silicone elbow(connected to 2g mas). 2g mas, intake pipe, turbo

make sense? I'll try and find a site that shows what i'll do

yea like the 1st and 3rd link. there was a pic on a local mailing list a guy had made but i can't find now
mine will probably be mad out of PVC

Just make your own. I made the exact setup you're talking about for mine about 4 months ago, works great, dropped intake temps 40-50 degress. From the front mine sites exactly like the buschur in the pass side opening of the bumper. You can look @ myu pics in my user profile/gallery and see what i mean.

Doesnt it suck up water if it raining or you drive through a puddle?

could it be possible to put a louver on the opening? would that work to stop water from being sucked in?

It can suck up water... I got a couple of friends that run the flex pipe from an old style carburator engine and run it to the front of the intake. So if it is raining, all you do is move it away or block it from the intake. It worked really good, except one of these idiots ran it through a puddle...consequence: Hydrolock...
