Well, my wife wants more power, but she doesn't want to do the research. I'm an extremely experiences Nissan driver and have turbos on all my vechicles. I'm fairly new to the DSM modification scene, as it's not a car that I drive or work on very often. She's gotten tired of trying in vain to keep up with my Maxima, so... up goes the Spyder's HP.

I am going to opt for a Forced Performance FP3055 ball bearing turbo sometime in the next few months, but want to put a good FMIC kit on beforehand. I need it to be able to handle the power and heat produces by the FP. All the ICs I have on my Nissans have been custom made, but this seems to be well traveled territory for you guys. I know a huge FMIC may cause a performance drop with the undersized stock turbo, but no problem for now.

We have a 1998 GST Spyder. I'm looking for the biggest IC that will fit in the front air dam. I'm not shy about trimming the bumper, but I dont want to do any cutting/welding. I want to mount it, pipe it and go. I'll trim the bumper if need be.

I have used search but haven't really narrowed it down much. Some people are offering custom kits... which is completely fine, but I want to know if they are a direct bolton or if any modification will be necissary. I've heard not too good reviews of the greddy and apexi kits as well as victory and a few others. What's the best IC for this turbo? Any experiences? I'm looking for a complete kit that will bolt up 100% to the stock turbo. I'll worry about the FP upgrade whent he time comes. I have experience mainly with Spearco and LOVE their ICs, but I'm open to suggestion.

Can I get some advice?

I saw no ICs on agpturbo.com. I like the turbo selection, though. I've thought about going full garrett. I have a Garrett GT 3040 twin ball bearing on my Maxima, but know nothing about choosing one for a DSM.

Ken at Indy gets my recommendation. Quality stuff and one of the DSM good guys.

I'm sure I've missed some others but I'm not as familiar with the 2G stuff. And Forced Performance has updated thier website, the 3055 has been replaced by the 3052. Full Garrett used to be the way to go, but recently PTE turbine housings, as sold by AGP and just about everyone else with the DSM flange, and FP have made the choice more difficult. Now it just comes down to which manifold you like, because your 2G manifold if ported works very well.

Welcome to our world.

Turbo Maxima huh? My dad has a maxima with nitrous on it that ran 12.1 this year. See you make 446 to the wheels, you run it at the track? I'll bet your a Maxima.org member, you probablly know Jime over there.

Regardless, the mentioned companies above are really good setups, also if you wanted a known brand the Greddy Big FMIC comes with all the piping and FMIC and requires almost next to no cutting and bolts up easily. You can also get a Greddy Type-S bov with it to replace the stock setup.

Then just get your Turbo of choice that bolts upto the stock manifold (port it out of course) like the FP 3052 or even a Green would be killer and your all set to kick it. Simple 3" exhaust and a clutch, injectors and SAFC and your ready to rock. Lucky for us we don't need FMU's or check valves or missing links or that type of thing so you don' t need to worry about that. (maybe you have Stand alone on your Maxima?)

Good luck.

There's not really a decent track around here to run at. Only one dyno shop. The closest thing's a 1/8 mile... and all the ricers hang out there. Not really my idea of fun...

I dyno'd a max of 446 with no bottle. I'm not a big bottle fan, though I have a 100 shot wet kit I could use on the Max but really don't want to push it. It's a daily driver, so The boost is down to ~8 usually. Yes, it's a pain to have a FMU... but it's not too bad. I have a Vortech FMU, Apexi AVCR and SAFC2.

I'm an on again off again .org browser. I don't rally 'know' anyone. Mainly the people in the boosted forum, being that it's where I get most of my technical advice. I'm a big troll everywhere I go regardless...

It's looking like the big greddy kit is the cheapest... I was thinking the 'customs' would be cheaper.

The Greddy is cheapest in more than just price ;) trust me guy; for the size of turbo you are looking for and power in mind teh Greddy (large or small) unit will not suffice. As I said you will be MUCH better off getting a 2-216 core from spearco and either having a shop weld up your endtanks and piping or give www.agpturbo.com a CALL and ask them about it. Its not on the site, but they may be able to help you out.

There are tons of companies selling this core now-a-days; its just the prices are usually quite high and also vary quite a bit from vendor to vendor. most kits from top names with the 2-216 will run around $12-1400...and if you ask me that is to much. Though I cant weld, it seems that for some piping and endtanks hundreds of dollars are going somewhere =) Anyhow call around and see what people can do for you..you wont go wrong with that core:thumb:

Not true on the cutting.

The Apexi Skyline core is the best, and fits 2Gs very nicely. Just need to have cutom pipes made up. Not a big deal. The 2-216 is the 2nd best. Great core, and flows a ton. DO NOT GET THE GREDDY!!! It is a piece of absolute crap. I really hate when poeple recommend it and dont have any clue about what they are talking about.
