IS an alternator linked to preformance?

would a weak or dying alternator have anything to do with low rpm preformance

I have a feeling my alternator is going out because all of the suddon I have no power before 3k and then has it after that.

Doesnt really sound like alternator problems. Go get a multimeter for $15 from walmart and test both battery and alternator. When your car is running take the little red boot off the alternator, put positive to that and ground it to whatever. Both battery and alternator should run @ about 14.x volts. Also if it was your alternator, you would only be able to start your car a couple times and not be able to run it very long because your battery would not be charging. I cant say what your problem might be, but I hope i helped eliminate a possibility.:talon:

it would give a problem maybe if it seizes up or somethin....the reason u get poewr over 3000 is cuz u have a damn turbo...its called boost and happens at about 3000

he said all of the sudden, and having a turbo dose'nt make it so you have no power lower in the RPM range, you just don't build alot of boost.
now go along and make some other misinformed knoob

have you replaced your plugs and/or wires recently? might be a good idea. maybe you could give us some more details,as to just how the car acts under acceleration from a low rpm.

My bad, I don't know what happened about the 99 talon, it is a 95 TSI converted to the 97 style eclipse body. Yes i did change my plugs and wires about 3K miles ago and it did not help. The car just feels like it no bottom end and it takes a lot of the pedal to get it up to the higher rpms for the turbo to kick in.
