well i was in a car tonight w/ a 16g (not tuned very well)
didnt really impress me much over stock. but then again he didnt have to much done stock fuel pump 550 cc injectors intercooler piping and a greddy BOV.

but im just curious what upgrades a 18g or 20g would need versus just a 16g..

so far ive got a evo3 manifold 3" SS VRS turbo back dejon tool upper ic pipe stock bov (buying the greddy BOV and pipe off the guy was the reason i was in his car w/ him) and act 2600 clutch and street disc.. ngk plugs and wires..(fuel pump on the way as well as a pocketlogger and SAFC2)

but just curious if a 18g or 20g is ok w/ stock internals maybe just bigger injectors or what ?

Ya just dont run a whole lot of boost unless it is tuned properly.
Heres a list of what i would get if i was getting an 18g.
supra tt fuel pump
aeromotive fpr
650 cc injectors
safc
pocketlogger
egt gauge and probe

Here's a list of what I would get if I had an 18G (and I just might be getting one):

- DSMlink (or S-AFC or e-manage)
- FMIC (or upgraded SMIC as a minimum)
- 660s (550s as a minimum but keep boost reasonable)
- 2.5" turboback with O2 eliminator downpipe (3" if you want to run low 11s or better)
- 190 lph fuel pump with -6AN fuel line up front, or regular 255 lph if you must
- No AFPR is needed, IMO, but it'd be nice to have
- Other minor obvious stuff like BOV and MBC, etc.

Stock internals should be fine-- you may want to consider 2G pistons at some point since you're 1G, though, but I don't know at exactly what point they're needed.

is there a big difference on the 18g or 20g(compared to the 16g) running like only 15lbs of boost ? and do they spool up decent or nowhere near as good as a 16g ?

Spool-wise, it seems to be different according to who you ask. I've heard everything from practically no difference to very noticeable, annoyingly long lag. More so for the 20G than the 18G. This is just heresay, though, since I haven't had either one (yet). Obviously you would have more lag with the 20G since it's a bigger turbo.

18g's spool exactly the same as big16g's. And 550's are plenty of fuel for under 20psi.

18G flows about 600CFM and is good maxed out for 400WHP

20G flows like 640-650CFM and is good for 450WHP

if you can put 93 or 94 gas in it everyday, 550s will be plenty, ive a big16g ported and clipped runnin 20psi with the fpr all the way down, i believe at like 25 psi still runnin rich
