Will a 1g 5speed work in a 2g????

I have a 97 gst spyder. Very very fast, but it is an auto. A friend has a 1g 5 speed. Can this tranny work in my car? If so, what all will I need. Thanks!!! P.S. All these trannys are fwd.

No, it won't work. 1G trannies have totally different mounting points than 2G's.

I had a guy come over to the house the other day with a 1G that had a 2G FWD tranny in the engine bay and working. Looking at the mounting points he was using it was actually possible. I did'nt go into detail if he had to change the cable assembly or anything but it is very possible to put a 2G tranny in a 1G you just can't put a 1G tranny in a 2G due to the missing front mount on the 1G tranny. (I hope that makes sense)

Just something to throw out there for the archives. I've seen it in action.
